I am happy, intellectual, and life-loving.

My Self-Summary

I'm a pagan of Celtic tradition and tending to kitchen witchery, but I'm not wiccan. I read books at what some people consider a frightening rate, but usually not more than 4 at a time. My family is very important, as are the cats. Otherwise, I work in IT as a technical writer for a reasonably small telecom company. And in my free time and with whatever money is available (and making do with very little when necessary, I love to travel.

What I’m doing with my life

Working as the sole corporate technical writer, writing my own stuff at home, doing lots of reading, and spending time with my grown kids and the cats. And now that the weather has finally improved, just starting to work out again (as much as I can with an orthopedic boot on).

I’m really good at

Helping people who need help, empathy, or sympathy. Writing readable technical manuals. Travelling!

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - detective novels, historical novels, sci-fi, history, science.

Not much of a movie-goer, and like happy romances and musicals best, although I've seen every Harry Potter available so far.

I have a limited tolerance of hiphop and house, a somewhat larger ability to stand classical (unless I'm at a piano making it myself); truly love folk music, am an an oldies fan, and like my jazz nice and cool.

Food? I'm on the 'seafood' diet - see food, eat it - especially all the lovely crusty crustaceans (shrimp, lobster, crab). I love to experiment with new flavors; about the only place I really don't want to eat is Mickey Ds.

The six things I could never do without

The love of my family. Books. New foods to taste. New places to see. An intellectual challenge. Cats. New friends. (Yes, I know that's seven.) And last but not least, two working legs (especially left ankle).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The world: how it came to be, how it runs, my place and role in it, how to enjoy it, how to understand it, how to improve it.

On a typical Friday night I am

Downtown at the old car show, or sitting at my computer playing games, or curled up in 'my' chair with a good book. Frequently all three, in that order.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a former heavy drinker.

You should message me if

You shouldn't 'message' me, you can notify me or write me or send me a message - if somebody dynamite is interested in the weird conglomeration that is me.
