My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Note: back from Japan! It was a lot more fun than London :(

Instead of the name I actually got, my parents almost called me Axle. It wasn't even after Axl Rose, it was Axel Foley. Yeah, Beverly Hills Cop. Maybe that says quite a lot about my upbringing.

I can truthfully say I am half British, half French and half Polish.

I sometimes play guitar and I swim every weekend (no Swimmers Body™ just yet but it's happening 8-D).

I'm interested in politics but I don't push it on others. I try hard to focus on the common ground I have with people rather than trying to find some ideological reason to hate them. It's pretty fine if you don't care about that stuff.

As far as I can tell the match percentages are totally useless, so many of my high matches seem like they'd want to burn me at a stake whilst reading me Foucault (if you don't know who that is, good). So if you don't care about our lack of a match I probably won't either.

I'm not really looking for anything serious, but I wouldn't say I'm after "meaningless" one-night stands either. I'm trying to take a break from long-term relationships and just make some friends.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've hit that part of life where it becomes the Friends theme song, minus the chorus. I'm seriously considering legging it to the other side of the planet as a kind of survival exercise.

I have A Big Goal (apparently that's very important to a lot of you!). It currently looks less like Everest and more like a 600m high flagpole in the middle of a volcano. I haven't quite given up yet.

(Real answer: boring computer stuff (it's (almost) interesting to me!)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Hiding how much of a nerd I am.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Friends have told me:
"Unlike most guys you don't dress like a complete tosser"
I have "piercing blue green eyes"
"Nice 'do"
I guess I look younger than my age, though actually probably not quite as young as my pictures make me look.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Non-fiction: Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Nick Cohen and...George Orwell. bell hooks wrote a book that I really liked too (though I find her refusal to capitalise her names utterly pretentious)
Fiction: Iain M Banks, Neal Stephenson, Margaret Atwood and George Orwell.

Yes my taste in fiction is largely "trash", I'm working on absorbing some of the canon. Unfortunately Camus tripped me up.

I also have a real fighter pilot strategy and tactics textbook sitting on my shelf. If you need someone who knows how to evade radar-guided surface-to-air missiles, I'm your man.

My taste in music is SO ECLECTIC.

I like a bunch of rock bands from Japan; some American blues rock stuff; some of that depressing, droning ambient stuff (shoegaze, apparently) and some punk ska that absolutely no one but me will ever like. Plus the assorted, random tracks that make you wonder "why can't the rest of this genre sound just like this?"

My latest favourite show is Silicon Valley. Sure hope it gets a bunch of seasons!

I like Mike Judge in general, actually.

Some others: I generally like those deceptively adult animated shows like South Park and Home Movies. I have a short list of anime I like but most of it, like anything, is abysmal. I have that Netflix now, I generally use it as an inexhaustible supply of Star Trek.

Standup: I've somehow managed to inhabit that tiny part of the Venn diagram that means I like both Stewart Lee and Lee Evans but think Michael McIntyre is a bit naff.
I like Bill Hicks when he doesn't sound like a dumb hippy or a tinfoil hat. I like his voices, characters, and the bit about Jay Leno comitting suicide with an Uzi to his mouth.
I like Al Murray's act for the right reasons, rather than because I'm a UKIP voter with no self-awareness whatsoever.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
There's a little scar on my stomach from when I was a kid. Wanna see? ;)
