My self-summary

Instead of the name I actually got, my parents almost called me Axle. It wasn't even after Axl Rose, it was another 80s Axle. Maybe that says quite a lot about my upbringing.

I can truthfully say I am half British, half French and half Polish.

I sometimes play guitar and I swim every weekend (no Swimmers Body™ juuust yet but it's happening 8-D). I want to start some bedroom game development and drawing. I should probably learn French too.

I have no formal training but I've always been very interested in history, politics and philosophy. If this is all guff to you, don't sweat it. I've had some cool relationships with people who never really cared to talk about any of this with me.
Actually, my last relationship was with someone who would've been a terrible OKC match, but we were extremely happy together. I like learning from people of totally different outlooks and temperaments.

It took me a while but I think I finally understand and have internalised the following proverb:
"Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others."

I read lots of papers because reading just one is daft, frankly. To modernise a phrase from Orwell, some things are true even if they are written in the Daily Mail.

I'm not really looking for anything serious, but I wouldn't say I'm after "meaningless" one-night stands either. I'm trying to take a break from long-term relationships and just make some friends.
What I’m doing with my life
I do (EDIT: was doing) computer stuff at - now that I think about it - a fairly cutting edge tech company. Unfortunately my pay is such that it feels like I'm being paid to do another degree (which is a lot better than accruing debt, to be fair). Oh well.

I definitely have ambition for something more creative and exciting, though.

EDIT: soooo, I got made redundant! Which means I can't really be arsed with the crazy amount of effort OKC requires of men at the moment as I'm trying to be not homeless. So if you like me you're be best off sending the first message. Unless you feel like waiting until I'm employed and running the risk of some assertive, non-judgemental filly getting to me first ;)
I’m really good at
Doing Hank Hill's Scream Of Dismay.

Having way too high expectations of myself and very occasionally meeting them.
The first things people usually notice about me
Friends have told me:
"Unlike most guys you don't dress like a complete tosser"
I have "piercing blue green eyes"
"Nice 'do"
I guess I look younger than my age, though actually probably not quite as young as my pictures make me look.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fiction: Iain M Banks, Neal Stephenson, Margaret Atwood and George Orwell.
Non-fiction: Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Nick Cohen and...George Orwell.

I read a book by bell hooks that possibly changed my life.

I also have a real Fighter Pilot strategy and tactics textbook sitting on my shelf. I watched Top Gun like a thousand times when I was a kid.

Music-wise I tend to find weird stuff from my friends that most people haven't heard of. However, this doesn't make me a hipster because I don't even care that it's obscure ;) also, it's actually good. Message me and I'll send you something random.
Anyway, lets say that I like music enough to own and sometimes play a guitar and be curious as to whether I could ever learn to sing.

John Adams (which has a better theme than Game of Thrones, by the way)
Cowboy Bebop (which has a better intro than anything, by the way (seriously check it out. Don't you want to watch that!?))
Home Movies, King of the Hill, Curb Your Enthusiasm, South Park, Dragonball Z (sorry (not sorry)), Evangelion, Gurenn Lagann. Plus a bunch of British TV standards not worth listing.

Standup: I've somehow managed to inhabit that tiny part of the Venn diagram that means I like both Stewart Lee and Lee Evans but think Michael McIntyre is a bit naff.
I like Bill Hicks when he doesn't sound like a dumb hippy or a tinfoil hat. I like his voices, characters, and the bit about Jay Leno comitting suicide with an Uzi to his mouth.
The six things I could never do without
- Bombast
- Brass
- Heresy
- Insolence
- Cheek
- Courage
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Honing and distilling arguments I'll probably never need to make.

Trying to find the correct level of hot-headedness.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes I go to a bar with a pal.
Sometimes it's pushups night.
Sometimes my brother does a stand-up gig and I round some people up to go see him.
Sometimes I want to run home and play a video game until 2 am.
Sometimes I have a boring night-in because the following Saturday will be action-packed!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There's a little scar on my stomach from when I was a kid. Wanna see? ;)
I’m looking for

You should message me if
you see my pictures, skim my profile and think to yourself "he's cute! I sure would like to sit down and have a chat with him!". Pretty simple! I'm totally open to being approached by women :)

Incidentally, if we "Like" each other but I don't message you, I might just be busy! I'm probably planning to at some point.
