My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi!

Instead of the name I actually got, my parents almost called me Axle. It wasn't even after Axl Rose, it was another 80s Axle. Maybe that says quite a lot about my upbringing.

I can truthfully say I am half British, half French and half Polish.

I sometimes play guitar and I swim every weekend (no Swimmers Body™ juuust yet but it's happening 8-D). I want to start some bedroom game development and drawing. I should probably learn French too.

I've always been very interested in history, politics and philosophy. If this is all guff to you, don't sweat it. I've had some cool relationships with people who never really cared to talk about any of this with me.

Actually, my last relationship was with someone who would've been a terrible OKC match, but we were extremely happy together. I like learning from people of totally different outlooks and temperaments. So if you don't care about our lack of a match I probably won't either.

I am not a "Guardian reader", because I think basing your entire worldview on a single newspaper is frankly pretty daft. To modernise a phrase from Orwell, some things are true even if they are written in the Daily Mail.

I'm not really looking for anything serious, but I wouldn't say I'm after "meaningless" one-night stands either. I'm trying to take a break from long-term relationships and just make some friends.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm unemployed right now after being made redundant, so now I'm trying to slightly shift what I want to do. I used to do semi-boring programmer stuff, now I'm learning how to program 3D graphics effects. Hopefully I can get a job in a VFX film studio or something B-) It's pretty fun so far! It's like painting with...trigonometry.

Once I'm more settled in my career I have higher, more creative ambitions that'd bore the pants off of 97.6% of you and thrill the rest.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Doing Hank Hill's Scream Of Dismay.

Having way too high expectations of myself and very occasionally meeting them.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Friends have told me:
"Unlike most guys you don't dress like a complete tosser"
I have "piercing blue green eyes"
"Nice 'do"
I guess I look younger than my age, though actually probably not quite as young as my pictures make me look.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Fiction: Iain M Banks, Neal Stephenson, Margaret Atwood and George Orwell.
Non-fiction: Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Nick Cohen and...George Orwell. bell hooks wrote a book that I really liked too (though I find her refusal to capitalise her names utterly pretentious)

I also have a real Fighter Pilot strategy and tactics textbook sitting on my shelf. I watched Top Gun like a thousand times when I was a kid.

My taste in music is SO ECLECTIC.

j/k

I like a bunch of rock bands from Japan; some American blues rock stuff; some of that depressing, droning ambient stuff (shoegaze, apparently) and some punk ska that absolutely no one but me will ever like. Plus the assorted, random tracks that make you wonder "why can't the rest of this genre sound just like this?"

TV:
John Adams (which has a better theme than Game of Thrones, by the way)
Cowboy Bebop (which has a better intro than anything, by the way (seriously check it out. Don't you want to watch that!?))
Home Movies, King of the Hill, Curb Your Enthusiasm, South Park, Dragonball Z (sorry (not sorry)), Evangelion, Gurenn Lagann, Enterprise. Plus a bunch of British TV standards not worth listing. I have that Netflix now. I'm not a slave to it, but it's pretty great!

Standup: I've somehow managed to inhabit that tiny part of the Venn diagram that means I like both Stewart Lee and Lee Evans but think Michael McIntyre is a bit naff.
I like Bill Hicks when he doesn't sound like a dumb hippy or a tinfoil hat. I like his voices, characters, and the bit about Jay Leno comitting suicide with an Uzi to his mouth.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Honing and distilling arguments I'll probably never need to make.

Trying to find the correct level of hot-headedness.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm unemployed right now, as if I know what day it is!

Ayyyyyy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
There's a little scar on my stomach from when I was a kid. Wanna see? ;)

you see my pictures, skim my profile and think to yourself "he's cute! I sure would like to sit down and have a chat with him!". Pretty simple! I'm totally open to being approached by women. :)

Also if you can see any annoying cliche in my profile and you feel like being a dick and pointing it out, that'd actually be helpful!
