My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm like what I'm looking for, except I've got a beard and a penis.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Refining and composing online dating profiles as an exercise of renewed self-definition.

Wearing a tank top that makes me look like a gay russian weight lifting sailor from 1920 who lifts only oddly shaped weights and ought to have a moustache.

Career wise, I'm a successful businessdude with a lovely job that provides me the money, time and freedom to read and write and create and party to my heart's content. It's nice.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Conversatin' and rumpshakin'. Getting shit done. Cooking. Connecting with, energizing, and engaging people. Leading. Intuiting things. Dark irony. Fun, both for myself and for others.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been told that I'm contagiously happy, and I'd like to think that's the first thing people see/feel coming off of me. At the same time I've lived a pretty adventurous life, and am not without a few (hopefully) sexy bits of darkness and depth.

I actually am 5'10". Apparently dudes on here lie about these things. I have a long history of dating women that are taller than me, so... Uhhh.. Don't be dissuaded. I'm pretty barrel shaped in the chesty region, so I promise I'll pick you up and bounce you around even if you're 6'3.

Oh, and my well turned calves. They're turned well.

As a good friend of mine said in her profile, these lists are both dauntingly important and trivial all at once. I consume a lot of media.

This is fucking brilliant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak0fPHbFpbc

Books...

Currently reading Vampires in the Lemon Grove, just finished the Klosterman essay book "Eating the Dinosaur", which was fantastic for about the first two thirds, and good for the last bit. Other recent ones.. I'dAunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, wind up girl, I had to stop reading IQ84 because it was twisting up my sense of reality. But I'll be back, Murakami, you twisted cutie pants.

Other favorites:
The Magic Mountain
One Hundred Years of Solitude
No One Belongs Here More Than You, Neil Gaiman, Dune (although I haven't reread the series in ages), Winter's Tale (although in rereading it it felt kinda hackneyed), The Secret History, Kavalier and Clay, Jonathan Lethem, China Mieville. A large soft spot for fantasy and science fiction. I am among the legion of individuals who have tried to read infinite jest and failed multiple times. I'll get it eventually, I'm sure.

My Top albums of 2012: Alt j - an awesome wave
Justin Martin - ghettos and gardens
Dustin Wong - Dreams Say, View, Create, Shadow Leads
Four Tet - Pink
Matthew Dear - Beams
The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past
Chad Valley - Young Hunger
Niki and the Dove - Instinct
Fang Island - Major
Tall Ships - Everything Touching
Tanlines - Mixed Emotions
Todd Terje - It's the arps

Moonrise kingdom was my favorite movie of recent years. Sure, it was purely Wes Anderson and twee as a motherfucker - but what else do you expect, people? Beasts of the Southern Wild was magical.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Mountains.
Exercise. (unfortunately infrequently paired with mountains)
Creativity.
Human interaction.
Information.
Hugs. Seriously. I give fucking great hugs. You can have one if you ask politely or stand and look confused for too long.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Planning social events, how to nurture emotional chemistry among friends so that they start connecting with each other, not just me.

Also, whimsy and silly bullshit and the constant pursuit of giggles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday nights are nice for relaxation. Although in the summer there are so many options that the relaxation takes a back seat.

Saturdays are for construction of silly creative adventures and emphatic dancing/costumes/big social coordinated madness.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I have a serious thing for talking animals and rubbing mammalian ears. You get bonus points if you have big/soft ears that get cold easily, or if you are a talking animal.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have a great bum and a better vocabulary, and you work both with confidence and verve. You're upbeat and pleasant, socially astute, witty, not misanthropic but selective. You might have your own strong and awesome group(s) of friends that we can charm together. You're not afraid of charming mine. You can hang in deep conversations, both in terms of listening and understanding, and expressing yourself. You have a large comfort zone that you carry with you wherever you go, however that manifests itself, and you are at least a little bit impulsive. You are essentially a whole person, one that understands who they are and what they want while still viewing themself as dynamic. And, finally, you've got a big chunk of your life focused on whimsy and not taking yourself seriously. Which seems funny because this lil' paragraph does sound like it's self serious. But I promise I'm not. It was just fun to compose what I'm after.

You probably don't use the term "I love to laugh" in your profile, since I have yet to meet anyone, ever, who doesn't. But you are also probably known for being joyful/kind.
