My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First of all, yes, I know my member name is misspelled. I have been trying, in vain, to get someone at Ok Cupid to fix it for me!

Also, I keep remembering things and adding to this...

Now, on to the fun stuff:

I just moved to Louisville, and am looking forward to exploring my new city! Currently living in a 1905 Victorian shotgun house in the Portland area, which my friend Gill is redeveloping.

Sometimes I make myself laugh while walking down the street.
I'm compulsively honest and I'll always give you one of the olives in my martini.

I'm a geography geek. And a music geek. Oh, and a history geek. Ok, I am kind of a geek. But geeks are the new black.

My interests are eclectic, to say the least and range from having a serious case of wanderlust (I have every passport I have ever owned, including the one I shared with my mother, as an infant) to being a rather adventurous home cook to writing about film, music, sports and politics.

Baseball is as close as I get to religion, with Liverpool FC a very close second. That said, while I like sports, I don't watch them to the exclusion of most other things and I would never force them on anyone. At the end of the day, many other things are more important.

That said, I bet I could get you to at least appreciate both baseball and soccer.
Other things I am good at getting people to appreciate:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (NOT the movie), Everything else Joss, Babylon 5, Withnail & I, blue cheese, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Billy Bragg and a good martini.

I love to throw dinner parties.

I think my parents, for all their flaws, were amazing people. My mother passed away almost 7 years ago and in organizing her memorial and working as her literary executor, I feel like I got to know her all over again. And my dad? Words fail me. He was a singular individual.

I'm to the left of liberal. If you're anti-gay marriage or pro-death penalty, we're gonna have issues.

I think men should always dress appropriately (suits don't work in the woods and jeans don't work in Cannes) however, style is NOT "clothes deep." Either you got it, or you don't. I'd like to think I got it.

I love to cook and am serious about being an ethical omnivore. I need to know where my food comes from as often as possible.

My father was one of my heroes. 1 of the other 2 might shock you.

I travel every chance I get and will take you with me.

I take a lot of pictures (and used to develop them myself).

Oh, and when it comes down to it, I know you're going to be right most of the time. Guys are dumb.
And because we're dumb, we need a little help now and then and I don't have a problem accepting it. Mostly....
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Like I said, I just moved to Louisville. I'm a part time freelance publicist (we represent films, filmmakers, tattoo artists, performance venues, restaurants & bars and many other people and brands) and a writer, most recently and steadily for PasteMagazine.com (film, books, soccer, and more). I've been a journalist for 20 years and am also a filmmaker.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Well, not blowing my own horn... What I love to do and have been told I am good at: Writing, cooking, photography, cocktails, dressing up and down and making with the funny.

Traveling, geography, solving problems involving travel and geography.
Drinking wine. I rock at it.
But seriously, I cook like a mother fucker.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Who knows? It's not like I ask people this question. Besides, getting to know someone is way cooler than first impressions.

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Fridge magnets, pie, socks, 10w-40 motor oil, wooden spoons, and Wombles. Only one of those is true. Well, maybe 3.

I also dig: My passport, wifi, linen, hats, and cheese.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You understand at least the basic differences between dorks, nerds and geeks (or are willing to learn) and you understand that a person's pop culture picks don't define them any more than their favorite foods or clothes or countries.

You recognize at least a couple of the following words/phrases (or are curious about them): Narn, Garibaldi, pan galactic gargle blaster, 42, Shiny, M'fashnik, TARDIS, Minbari, Baratheon, Zaphod Beeblebrox, psi-corps, "Exterminate," David Tennant, "¡Hasta la Victoria, siempre!", Infield fly.

Also, if you're not curious about the world around you, we probably won't get along. I'm just saying....
