My self-summary
Madrid and spring, the best combination under the sun.

After three years living in Cape Town South Africa, I have returned to MAD and now permanently. This wonderful time in the Southernmost part of Africa has given an even more optimistic point of view about people's willingness to build a better reality together -- optimism will prevail :) -- and how interesting some European approach is required from time to time.

In December 2013, I restarted my life in MAD, doing academic research, giving some courses and enjoying the cultural and night life of this city.

Willing to meet new people and enjoy every single aspect of astonishing beauty that winter and sunlight in MAD and surroundings provide. I consider myself as outgoing, optimistic, reasonable when arguing and comprehensible when talking.

My good cuisine techniques are recognized world-wide ;) even though I am looking forward to learning more about cuisine, desserts and cocktails.

Like wine, beer, tea, coffee and good food. When I am with someone that I appreciate, i like enjoying a nice conversation, a drink or a shared silence.

Travelling: have lived in Madrid, London, California, France, the Netherlands and finally -again- Cape Town, Barcelona and Madrid. One can imagine how such different places have marked my life perspective about many domains. In 2012, I went to Berlin, Poland, Porto, Geneva, Canfranc (Spanish Pyrenees), Lisbon, Bilbao and Barcelona. But Cape Town and Madrid remained the place where my home is! 2013 has included Madrid, China, Durban (SA) and trips around the Western Cape and Barcelona. 2014 will open with Brussels, Aveiro, Chile and probably California and South Africa.

I would like meeting an intelligent, outgoing and sensible girl who enjoys life. Sense of humour is a must. I would ratter prefer meeting in person - of course! - penpals are a bit "old-fashioned". People with no profile photos have mystery, but i rather like real people and charming/sincere regards.

If you want to know more, just send an email or a wink ;). Let's talk!
What I’m doing with my life
Right now scientific research and applying for permanent positions in research all around the world (South Africa, Brazil, Europe and US-Canada, Japan and China mainly but quite open-minded about where to go).

I am also trying to improve my German following a professional translation course and enjoying casual conversation and spare time in that language. French mother helped me to be now fluent in French.

My artistic side is now being satisfied by collecting a few engravings by Goya, Piranesi, Laborde et al. Also amateur actor from time to time in an university group. Carpe Diem. Tempus fugit.
I’m really good at
- Preserving friendships and people around.
- Understanding the others' points of view.
- Sharing thoughts more than imposing mines.
- Making connections of aspects of reality.
- My Spanish cuisine dishes are also quite nice -friends usually say- .
The first things people usually notice about me
Left handed and a good sense of humour, behind a serious appeal :P
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Many books to read... but among those I liked:

"Le rocher Tanios" by Amin Maalouf.
"Le père Goriot" by Honore de Balzac.
"L'étranger" and "La chute" by Albert Camus.
"Return to Brideshead" by Evelyn Waugh.
"Partir" by Tahar Ben Jelloum.

"Red and Black" by Sthendal.

"La promesse de l'aube" by Romain Gary.
"Las aventuras del capitán Alatriste" (just for relaxing) by A. P. Reverte.

Poetry: by Anna Ajmatova, Tagore, Wordsworth, Miguel Hernandez, Machado, Eluard, Ignacio Vleming, Gamoneda and many others...

Theatre: Used to play in an amateur troupe... but in any case: Beckett, Williams, Miller, Shakespeare, Dürrenmatt, Brecht,...
Plays just seen in the past months/weeks - probably I forgot some:

- "El cojo de Innhisman", Teatro Español, Madrid, January 2014.
- "Mies Julie", Baxter Theatre, Cape Town, June 2013.
- "Le malentendu/El malentendido" by Albert Camus with Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, CDN, Madrid, February 2013.

Opera: too many I guess. The last one "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini for the second time (first one was in Madrid, 2004). For Christmas, "L'elisir d'amore" by Donizetti in Madrid.

Books about contemporary and modern history, architecture and interior design. For my French language final year I am reading some "suspense book" and have prepared a report of Algerian war 1954-1962 (love History by the way :P ). I did from Feb-May 2012 a course on French-Spanish translation.

Directors: Allen, Tarkovsky, Godard, Bergman, Pasollini, Rohmer, Almodóvar, Bardem (not Javier this time, but one of his ancestor who was film-maker), Berlanga, Amos Gitai, Rosellini, Willy Wilder ...

Movies: Filmothèques around the world usually help me :P
Last ones: "About time", "Gravity", "To the wonder, "Moonrise Kingdom", Taxi Driver", "Les Intouchables", "Pa negre" and "The girlfriend of Frankenstein", "The artist", "The pianist", "Amour" (Isabelle Huppert) and looking forward to "Before night".

Food: I think I cook quite well but a restaurant or some tapas with a special partner or friends, is a social and personal pleasure to me on a weekly-basis.

Cuisines: Spanish (of course), southern-French, Japanese, Peruvian, Cape-Malay,...

Wine: I adore vineyards in Spain, France, Tuscany and Western Cape (South Africa)... or anywhere in the world [(here some publicity for Spanish wines :P ]
- Red: Shiraz or Rioja;
-White: Cabernet or Rueda.
- Rosé: sometimes.
I am convinced that wherever there is wine, there is also culture and respect for nature.

to be continued and improved ;)...
The six things I could never do without
more than six i am afraid...one would be good theatre plays from time to time and some wines after the performance.

I like being disconnected from time to time, so I don't need internet nor a mobile with me 24h.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"how life and youth are irrecoverably lost"...just kidding ;)

PS: Btw, the quotation is from the novel "Return to Brideshead".
On a typical Friday night I am
it depends on the friday: theatre, home, cinema, good dinner, clubbing. With friends in any case or alone sparing time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I would admit a couple of things after a glass of wine, but only in person I'm afraid ;)
