I am whimsical, witty, and I like to win..

My Self-Summary

crude. domestic. easily entertained.
i'm generally passive, but i like to win
i'm getting twangier with age.
also have freckles.
whimsical.
whiskey.

there are a few choice words i cannot say without a drawl.

the "similar users" suggestions near my profile appear to be mostly women who are "more attentive" or "kinkier" than me. I think okcupid is trying to insinuate that I am an inattentive prude... well played, okcupid, well played.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a political organizer - working to re-engage society in solving our country's problems. You know, getting the funk on for democracy.

I’m really good at

Not good at: bowling, interior design, spelling, and geography.

Really good at: chopping vegetables, limbo, games, banter, making people comfortable, making people uncomfortable, bullshitting, standing for long, periods of time, getting people to do things, navigating public transportation systems, getting through airport security with lightning speed

The first things people usually notice about me

I have no idea! How embarrassing!

If I were not me, then I would probably notice my smile. Or, if it were the winter, i would probably notice how much north face gear i was wearing and think i was a tool. If it were summer I might notice my freckles.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Breakfast of Champions, Ender's Game, Long Walk to Freedom

Movies: Big Lebowski, Spinal Tap, Strange Brew (Shut Up I love it), Clue, Star Wars, The Departed

TV: I know you didn't ask. Twin Peaks, The Wire, MadMen, Battlestar, Californication, Veronica Mars, Lost ... I also watch a lot of trashy reality shit and I'm not ashamed. But actually, I don't have TV at home, so I'm impressed I keep up.

Music: Willie, Woody, Dylan, Fela and other afrobeat, Girl Talk, Wilco, Pixies, Beck ... shake it and fist pump.

Food: I like things that feature cheese, fried tofu, vegetables, or beans - mostly on top of, near, or wrapped in a grain of starch. And hard boiled eggs. And avocado. And butter and salt. I like to cook.

The six things I could never do without

laughter
friends
internet (UGH)
the ocean
a job that I love
music

I spend a lot of time thinking about

furnishing my not totally furnished apartment: bookshelves, chairs, frames, coffee tables.

summer: warm weather, humidity, farm stands, freckles, sandles, sunglasses

friends: specific ones, random ones, old and new, here and there.

work: things i need to do, things i want to do, things i forgot to do, things i want other people to do. facebook. email. rinse repeat.

oh and google wave.

On a typical Friday night I am

the same as most- i travel a lot for work, so adventures in a different city or catching up with old friends, locally going out to eat, bars, movies, music, at home with friends and food, or catching up with TV addictions, house work, books, radio, and sleep.

If I'm really lucky I convince people to play boardgames all night or get 3am tacos after the bars.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

okcupid scares me. but it's easy to turn off a computer.
