My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an easy-going nerd. I love music, animals, sleeping, gaming, talking, writing, walking, and even sitting quietly and thinking deep thoughts. I get lost a lot in imaginary worlds, either my own or someone else's. I can have a very dark sense of humour sometimes, but I try as hard as I can to not be a dick.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Right now I'm settling back in to life in Fredericton, and working on my writing. I left school for a while because of a build up of student loan debt, and a suspicion that university was not meant for me. Right now my plan is to find a job that I can tolerate and work for a while, until I can approach my future from a more comfortable, stable situation.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Music - I've been playing classical piano for 15 years. I'm a bit out of practice now, though. I'm thinking about picking up the guitar, though! We'll have to see.

Making people laugh - Runs in the family, all the way back to my Grandfather. (Maybe before, I don't even know.)

Writing - I love to write, I do some short fiction stuff. Mostly kinda sci-fi-ish, a little fantasy here and there. I'm even working on my first novel right now, thought it's definitely in its early stages. I also generally have a few random projects on the go. Don't hesitate to ask me about my writing, if you're curious.

Listening - I have a quiet nature, as well as a sympathetic spirit. I have the social skills to carry on a conversation, but I'm often just as happy to sit back and listen.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Are the fact that I'm 6'4 and look kinda like a scary viking. Once they get to know me they realize that, in the words of more than one of my friends, I'm just a big teddy bear, though.

Oh lord, this is a tough one. I have eclectic tastes.

Books - All time favorites are without a doubt the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. I'm also a huge fan of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I'm a proponent of Neil Gaiman, Richard K Morgan, Brandon Sanderson, John Scalzi, Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Charles Stross, Patrick Rothfuss, Kevin Hearne, James Lovegrove, and sometimes I read silly Military Sci Fi stuff by John Ringo. This is a small sample, I have a huge and eclectic reading list. Also I am willing to wax lyrical for hours on the merits of the "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" fanfic. Shhhh don't judge me. My latest obsession is with Jeff Vandermeer, specifically, his Southern Reach series. It's some of the best writing I've encountered in years and makes me so excited. Most horror genre stuff tries to make you shocked, disgusted, or disturbed, and I'm not super into that. But this instead goes with a growing feeling of unease, which builds into an unsettling climax. It's like HP Lovecraft if he was a modern writer who wasn't a racist, misogynistic old shit with a hard-on for Poe.

Movies - My favorite movie ever is Pitch Black starring Vin Diesel. It's a guilty pleasure.I absolutely love Werner Herzog's Nosferatu, or really anything by Herzog and Kinski, or even Herzog and Nicholas Cage. Klaus Kinski is just so deliciously creepy. I have a fondness for martial arts flicks, both serious and goofy. Most recently, I discovered Iko Uwais, an indonesian action star. Check him out in The Raid: Redemption and Merentau. If you like brilliantly choreographed fight scenes, I highly reccomend him. Other than that, I'll kinda watch anything from animated movies to sci fi to film and historical stuff. I'm not picky.

Tv Shows - Firefly, True Detective, Arrested Development, Buffy, Top Gear, Sherlock, Community, Regular Show (Yeeaaahhh!), Life on Mars (The US version, not the UK. I know. But for once it's actually better!) Anything Aaron Sorkin has made, Archer, Adventure Time, Bob's Burgers, Mythbusters, Supernatural, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Almost Human, just to name a few. Also everyone should be watching Halt and Catch Fire. It's amazing and I'm hooked on it.

Food - I'm not sure I can name a favorite food. Up there is Matzo Ball Soup. You have to try it to understand, it's amazing. I also love cooking. I make the best shrimps (If I don't say so myself.)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Friends
2) Music
3) Books
4) Good food
5) The Internet
6) Regular periods of solitude
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The many many multitude of stories I'm always busy working on in my head. If I'm not around other people and being sociable, odds are I'm working out a story or trying to fix a character.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either hanging out with friends, gaming on my laptop, or writing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

That I'm willing to admit? Hmmmm. I miss Steve Irwin with all of my heart. All of it. I choke up when I see him even now.

Anything else, you'll have to ask. Sorry! But I'm like 99% likely to answer.

you want to. I love talking to people, I'm a social person at heart, but I'm pretty shy myself when it comes to initial contact. Please do, honestly! I just moved back to Fredericton and don't really know anyone here anymore, so I want to find a new community of like-minded folks to spend time with.
