I am enigmatic, sardonic, and hooked on phonics.

My Self-Summary

I signed up for this site years ago, but my account remained inactive. That's probably because I like to look at profiles more than actively participate in online courtship.

I've never done the online dating thing, and I'm not sure I'm ready to start right this minute. I'm just shopping, researching, if you will. You wouldn't buy a new car without doing some internet research would you? I'll update my profile fully when I'm ready to take a few models out for a test drive. ;)

What I’m doing with my life

I've recently gone back to school full-time with the intent of becoming...

I'm just gonna copy and paste some stuff from another profile: I'm recreational cyclist who's cycled the highest roads in North America, for fun, and hiking/climbing a non-technical 14'er is definitely on my bucket list. I'm a bit of a web nerd -- gotta balance out those strenuous physical activities ;) -- and have written and maintained a blog since before the word made Webster's Dictionary. In fact, that's what I'm headed back to school for, to help me pass on my love for web-based technology.

I’m really good at

I crave intelligent conversations interspersed with sublimely silly ones. Although I'm not highly educated in the institutional sense -- a fact that I'm in the process of changing -- I'm a wealth of useless self-taught knowledge, a great trivia partner. I'm an avid reader, but generally don't read fiction (or anything that takes more than one extended sitting). So what does that leave? Plenty, I like memoirs (of the non-Sarah Palin variety), short stories, essays/long-form journalism, and snarky, smartly-written blogs. I'm drawn to intelligent women, especially those whose expertise falls outside the realm of my knowledge set.

I've often said that I'm looking for someone with whom I could complete The Amazing Race; not that that's an actual goal, or even a show that I watch. So what does that mean? I'm not entirely sure, but I'll give it a try... It probably means you're athletic, easy going, adaptable, and up for anything that comes your way. I think that's a pretty good description of myself, although I'd replace easy-going with 'extremely laid back' and add highly competitive.

The first things people usually notice about me

How would I know, honestly?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm more likely to be listening to XRT or NPR than my iPod, which is odd because I'm an early adopter, bought a DVD player in '98 and an MP3 player in '99.

The six things I could never do without

excluding the obvious, food, shelter, etc... It would have to be my bicycles (I have 3, one road, one fixie, one mountain), laptop, and laptop-related accessories.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

baseball

You should message me if

You're someone who can take my dry, sardonic barbs and throw them back at me, drier and sardonickier.
