My self-summary
I'm a PhD student studying physics, neurophysics to be exact. In the event I'm not doing science, I can be found reading popular science books, gaming, and dancing to loud music when no one else is in the apartment. I love to dance, even though I'm not great, and clubbing is one of my favorite nighttime activities. I love board games, card games, video games, any kind of games. In grade school, most of my social life involved playing games with friends. The only thing that has since changed is that my social life is now split between gaming and bars/clubs.

I enjoy the consumption of alcohol. I love trying new beer, I love finding delicious wines, and I'm dabbling in creating my own mixed drinks. I recently have fallen in love with fortified wines such as port and sherry. Despite being something of an uppity alcohol snob, I generally feel more at home in unsophisticated environments. I wish I could cook, and I admire anyone who has culinary talent. I also admire anyone with artistic or musical talent. In fact, I admire anyone able to enrich the daily grind in some way.
What I’m doing with my life
Fighting tooth-and-nail for my PhD. What comes afterwards is less certain. I'm not too interested in remaining in academia as I've been in academia my whole life and I would like to experience other sectors of the economy. I have dreams of either writing science fiction or science journalism. I also have dreams of starting my own business designing games. Wherever my career ends up, I am certain that I want to spend time traveling once I get my PhD before entering the workforce proper. I regret not doing this before starting with my graduate degree. I will not make the same mistake again.
I’m really good at
Mathematics. Programming. Cello. Citing random facts about classical music. Quoting dead white men. Putting things in perspective.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Unweaving the Rainbow, Cloud Atlas, Harry Potter, Pale Blue Dot, The Foundation series, and TONS of Non Fiction

Movies: Amadeus, Kill Bill, Moon, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Moulin Rouge!

Music: Beethoven

Food: sushi, cranberries, curried anything
The six things I could never do without
Friends, family, Beethoven, Mathematica, my cello, and of course, the internet
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Transhumanism. LGBT issues. How to apply statistical physics and information theory to questions in biology. What the next revolution in physics will be. What the next revolution in biology will be. What the next revolution in technology will be. Those scary and exciting areas between science reality and science fiction such as artificial intelligence, longevity, cybernetics, bioengineering, etc. How to make video games more emotive and humane. How cruel it is that I will likely never get to travel to the stars. How my knowledge of quantum theory might prove useful during a zombie apocalypse. What my next Halloween costume will be. What double entendre to use as a name for a gay bar, should I ever open one (my best idea so far is "Homo Erectus").
On a typical Friday night I am
Either geeking-out with my fellow physics grads, or hitting up the local gay scene. In each case, alcohol will be involved.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I shed tears during Beethoven's Ninth.
