My self-summary
As a kid I would pick up stray puppies and bring them home with me and my Mum would't let me keep them. As an adult it hasn't changed that much, now my landlord wont let me keep them!

I ate ants once as a snack (true story!); the point being that I will try anything at least once. I do not want to miss out on anything that I might like and only way to find that out is to keep trying different things.

About four years ago I stepped on a treadmill and ended up with the worst shin splints ever.... after walking half a mile! I decided to do something about the way this made me feel. Since that day I have run a couple of marathons, a couple of half marathons, bunch on 10K's. About a year ago I went barefoot, about 2 days after that I decided I love my toes and do not want to loose them! I now run in minimalistic shoes and, I recently finished my first Half marathon in those. (Well this was a while ago, I just finished my first tough mudder)
*Update- I was out of action much of 2015 due to injuries but, I am ready to make a comeback- any training partners?

I like sports but cannot for the life of me remember name of the teams or athletes or the scores. Also, I consistently loose my march madness bracket and end up buying beers for everyone else (in a best case scenario). I love watching movies and TV too but I can never think of the right answers in Trivia.

I have been stared at in the "T" because I thank the driver when I disembark (this word give away that I am not from here). It bothered me initially but I guess its more of a Midwestern thing (where I spent 6 years) and it will take some time before people here start doing it.
What I’m doing with my life
Working, running, balancing my act!
I’m really good at
being scientific, analytical, cracking jokes that most find offensive/ not funny/ nerdy
The first things people usually notice about me
What we think people might notice and what people actually notice can be really different. So tell me what you noticed and I will add that in this section.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I grew up reading Russian fairy tales, Medical/ sci-fi thrillers, I think I have graduated to non fiction and love reading Dawkins and Hitchens. Highly recommend the oxford book of modern scientific writing (if you are into it), you can find great essay by the likes of Einstein,Francis Crick, Oppenheimer, Schrodinger, Feynman...Oh and a recent addition is "The Diary of a Part Time Indian". Funny and somber at the same time.
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Se7en, Pulp fiction (most movies by Tarantino), Woody Allen, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Cohen Bros, ...
Shows: Southpark, Arrested Development, House of Cards, Sherlock (both the original and the new BBC series), Curb, The daily show, Colbert report, House.
I guess I get my kicks out of watching/ reading things where really smart and intelligent people are being mean to Stupid.
Music: Classic rock, Elvis, Sinatra, Beatles, Lady gaga, Songs from South park
Food: This is simple, I like tasty food.
The six things I could never do without
Running
Spicy food
Irish Whiskey

So recently I caved in and got a smart phone! I think its one of those things that you don't even realize that you needed until you get it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I just realized that the more questions I answer on OKC, the less I match with others. What does that say about me? hmm.....
On a typical Friday night I am
If not working-
at the gym
or running along Charles (seriously its pretty awesome)
or on a beer fueled cooking spree while listening to music; may be singing along Sinatra/ Freddie in an Indian accent
All of the above.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The best place to write scientific manuscript is my commode
