I am compassionate, nonchalant, and sarcastic.

My Self-Summary

I'm 6'1", ~150lbs, and fair-skinned. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and a deep appreciation for creative works (movies, music, narratives, pictures, etc.). I like to write, and I love to read interesting texts (not just books, and not just stories).

I'm a vegetarian. I love animals and people (people are animals).

I'm a nihilist. That doesn't mean I don't see any point to life, rather I think the only significance of life is the that which we attribute to it. In other words, there is no objective reason for us to exist, but we have the subjective purposes each of us attributes to his own life.

I hold a relatively libertarian philosophy toward life, though, politically, I tend to lean left. I highly value the ethic of reciprocity (a.k.a. the golden rule), and have a laid-back, "live and let live" sort of attitude. I rarely become angry. I feel that life is too short to waste on anger. I have to have a really good reason to go beyond mildly annoyed.

I thoroughly enjoy thoughtful conversations on a wide variety of topics, especially the ones people tend to shy away from talking about like politics, religion, sex/sexuality, etc. I think that if a taboo idea is never explored, there's no chance that it will ever become "acceptable," and I don't think anyone should ever have their thoughts or ideas suppressed because the ideas are unpopular.

I also really like challenging societal norms and making people question why they think and feel certain ways about absolutely everything (if we stop asking "why?" how can we ever think for ourselves?).

I really like music. I'm definitely a metal head, but I tend to like most music regardless of genre (except pop and most country). My favorite metal band is Slayer. I also like rap, but I'm fairly dissatisfied with the quality of rap today. I'm a much bigger fan of old-school rap and hip-hop than what's been produced in the past decade or so (some of it's O.K). My two favorite rappers are The Notorious B.I.G. and Big Daddy Kane.

I absolutely love movies! So great is my love for movies that I got a job at a movie theater so I could watch new movies for free, I'm actually studying in school how to make movies, and I intend to turn making movies into a career. My DVD collection is somewhere in the range of 150 to 200. The collection nearly fills a bookcase.

I also like video games a lot. I have several systems, ranging from as recent as Xbox 360 back to NES (all in working condition), and a small collection of games for each.

I realize this is a lot of depth for a summary, but despite my quiet nature, I have a lot to say. Anything else you want to know, feel free to ask, I'm pretty open about myself.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently majoring in Telecommunications with a focus in Design and Production at Indiana University in Bloomington. I have considered minors in business and creative writing, but I am still undecided about whether or not I even want one. What I would love to do in the near future is to start a production company and create various types of media, especially movies.

I’m really good at

spelling, grammar, imagining new ways to approach situations, working within limitations (they breed creativity), listening, helping people to solve problems, being direct and honest, math

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm quiet (both in volume and in the amount of talking I do), unless you get me started on something like movies - then I won't shut up. After the quietness, though, people tend to notice that I'm really easy to get along with.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm inexperienced in life.
