I am smart, witty, and loyal.

My Self-Summary

No idea what to say here. I'm a grad student at UVA looking to meet people and get out more. Friends, casual dating or something more. I'm in a very open frame of mind right now.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a grad student at UVA in Engineering. Graduated with a BS from Clemson in 2007. Will likely get my PhD in 2011 at which point I'm not sure what will be in store. Most likely heading to post-doc and at some point I'd like to teach at a research university of some kind. Preferably in the southeast.

I’m really good at

Teaching, I hope. From what I've been exposed to at Clemson and at UVA I seem to be pretty good at it. It's very fulfilling. I've worked at major industrial companies and done scientific research at a couple of places, neither of which are as satisfying as teaching.

The first things people usually notice about me

My wit/sarcasm. I can be a little abrasive at times, but most people who take the time to get to know me realize that I care a lot about the people I keep around me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I've never been very good at relaxing into a book. I try from time to time and those endeavors have led me to some pretty great reads. Catcher in the Rye comes to mind along with Ender's Game and Atlas Shrugged to a lesser degree. This is one area of my life I'm constantly struggling to get better at. Although I find women who read often very attractive.

Movies: There are too many to really list here, I'll put down a few:
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
Vertigo
Shawshank Redemption
American Beauty
American History X
Clerks
Fargo
Fight Club
Pixar movies
Will Ferrell flicks
Judd Apatow flicks

The six things I could never do without

Women, they've always been the better of my friends, family and relationships in general.

Internet
College Sports
Good Friends
Cheeseburgers
Movies

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. The phrase "thinks too much" comes to mind. In fact I've thought a lot about that phrase, I'm not exactly sure what it means. I mean, when people aren't thinking, what are they doing? I suppose I do spend way too much analyzing what most would consider to be mundane or unrealistic.

In a more specific manner, I'm not really interested in thinking about my future. I just don't feel like I have a good enough handle on it yet to spend much time thinking about it. I'll be here another two years, that's as far as I need to think ahead for now.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either at home watching Movies/TV or hanging out with friends. Depending on many factors that means either drinking at a friends house or hitting the bars.

You should message me if

If you're looking for someone who head to Vinegar Hill with.

If you're just looking to IM for a while to start things off.

If you enjoy sitting at a bar over a pitcher of beer and venting about your day.
