My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
(Update: I'm leaving the region in mid-September! Feel free to message if you want a new West Coast friend or penpal.)

I've described myself elsewhere as a Californian expat living in Baltimore, although that becomes less true every year.

I don't think that I'm a hipster, but I've been told otherwise from time to time. I believe that love of local food, craft beer, bicycling and indie rock contributes to this label, but who can tell any more.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just wrapped up an MFA in creative writing, and I'm sustaining myself by working at a university.

Before that it was a big LGBT nonprofit, which was great, but not right for me at that point in my life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I think I am good at avoiding or containing knee-jerk reactions to new or challenging ideas until I can give them an appropriate amount of reflection.

I'm also pretty proud of the writing I do; I have a few stories and poems published, and I'm hoping that my book-length manuscript gets picked up soon. (But then, aren't we all?)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm a read-every-day sort of person. I could give you a list of my favorite books from the Western, I-went-high-school-and-college canon, but a better sense of my taste comes from my favorite books in the last year or so. Right now, those books are: When the Only Light is Fire by Saeed Jones and The Empathy Exams by Leslie Jamison.

Previous mentions include: About a Mountain by John D'Agata and The Captain Asks for a Show of Hands by Nick Flynn.

Music: I can't really say any more. I grew up on skate- and polisci- punk, but nowadays my taste is pretty broad. At some point I stopped trying to keep on top of new bands and started visiting music that I missed because it was before my time.
I spend a lot of time thinking about

Tomorrow
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends, feeling guilty that I am not at home with my nose in a book.

Or

At home with my nose in book, feeling guilty that I'm not out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm really into NPR.

You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to chat, flirt or connect.

I'm pansexual, and I am in a long-term, polyamorous relationship; it would make the most sense if you were comfortable with those traits before messaging me.

Don't message me if you're sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or generally an unwelcoming person.
