Your Notes
Edit your notesI am patient, goofy, and random.
My Self-Summary
I absolutely love spending time with my close friends, but am not dependent on others for entertainment. I am very comfortable being on my own doing my thing. I have really close relationships with my friends & I think of many friends more like family.
My family is a very important aspect of who I am & the choices I make (like where I've live - so far). However, like anyone, I need my personal space & time & express that boundary when necessary.
I love nature & finding as many ways as possible to play in it. I enjoy skating, hiking, gardening, the beach, & just being outside. When I can't be outside I feel incomplete & saddened. During high school & Jr. college I could often be found at parks & beaches while studying, thinking, & gaining (or re-gaining) my focus.
As it turns out I am both a dog & cat lover (& for that matter love animals in general). I always try to reduce my negative impact on the world & wish I had the resources to be driving a hybrid (at the very least).
I have a BA in Psychology, work with developmentally disabled adults, & will probably pursue more formal education in the next several years (when Im sure of my exact area of focus).
I have [music] playing almost constantly which varies by the minute. I'm a curious person who enjoys learning, but have a really hard time learning in the classic american educational system. As such, I developed into a rather creative person who can see & communicate well with those who don't fit the mold.
What I’m doing with my life
I have spent many hours & dollars traveling with hopes of much much more. The diversity in culture - language, art, music, architecture, clothing, etc - that I have experienced through travel brings me great joy & helps me better understand where we all come from as humans. I try to help those around me in little or big ways (where ever & how ever I can).
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies: Breakfast at Tiffany's, 5th Element, Singing In the Rain, Young Guns, Garden State, Across the Universe, One Flew Over the Coo Coo's Nest, Run Lola Run, Serenity, Swiss Family Robinson, Amelie...
Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog!!! Joss Whedon's work is amazing & I still don't understand how Firefly could get knocked off so quickly. Lets hope Dollhouse lasts longer!!!
Music: I love WAY too many different groups/musicians to pick one...
CCR, 311, Cat Stevens, Dave Matthews Band, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Sting, Sublime, Tori Amos, Chopin, Matchbox 20, Andrew Bird, Ani DiFranco, Beatles, Black Eyed Peas, Wagner, Adiemus, Imogen Heap, NOFX, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, James Taylor, Fleetwoodmac...
Foods: Diet Coke, Cheese, Chocolate, Bread, Pasta, Thai food (esp. the peanut sauce!!!) Yogurt, a really good Caesar Salad, Cliff Bars, Purple/Blue Potato Chips, desserts of so so many kinds.
Favorite meal: Pasta with white sauce, Olive Garden bread, diet coke & something sweet for dessert!!!
The six things I could never do without
2. Cozy Blankets/Pillows
3. Diet Coke (i hate to admit it, but my name is Shannon & I am a Diet Coke addict)
4. Music
5. Humor
6. A garden!!!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
* Why we do the things we do.
* Nature
* What I can do to grow as an individual & in my relationships with others as well as my relationship with the earth.
* What makes me smile.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally I hang out with friends/family. We'll watch movies, play random goofy games: (board games (apples to apple is SO FREAKING FUNNY - even if you don't like board games... trust me... just try it), video games, computer games, card games), ok... i guess games in general.
When I can afford to I go visit friends/family, go dancing, go out to dinner, see plays, dance shows, concerts... I go out!
If Im staying home I might bake something yummy, work on a craft project, read, do puzzles, catch up on emails, play on photoshop or whichever program I have accessible at the time. Oh... and laundry (because in this day and age, on this planet, in this country - for any aliens checking out my profile, we wear clothing & stinking tends to turn people off. Just so ya know).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
... you are honest, giving, goofy, & have a healthy sense of how to live & be you.
I hope to meet someone who wants to build a relationship. I've been in love & in lust, & am clear on how they differ & can overlap. Other than that, Im looking for someone who wants to have fun, kiss, cuddle, & play (remember playing as a kid) while continuing to grow as an individual & partner.
* Two things I should note: I'm a taller gal & have a hard time dating men who are short. I am sorry if I offend anyone with that statement, but think it's only fair to be honest. I'm uncomfortable being a lot taller/bigger than my partner. Its my issue & in no way about you. If this applies to you, not to worry, there are many fantastic people out there (many of whom don't have this issue).
* Also, don't waste my time or yours if you are a cheater, lier, frequent bar scene partier, or addict (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling...). I make no judgement of your lifestyle choices or challenges, but have been in relationships with men who fall into each of the above & choose not be again.
