I am wifty, geeky, and romantic.
My Self-Summary
I am a UC Davis Graduate with a B.A. in Comparative
Literature. I enjoy
reading fiction and non/fiction. Speak
french almost fluently, enjoy both
science news and art and am a pet person.
I am the introverted extrovert. Once you get me going, I'll talk
about this, that, those, those other things, and maybe even these
things right here. I love getting to know people and if I ask a
question it's unlikely to simply be polite, but because I really
want to know. I believe in in opening doors for women, being there
for my friends, but have a dirty side that loves the crass and
innuendo.
I'd like to think I strive for balance in my life. I don't make it
a point to eat super healthy foods, but I try to eat a balanced
diet. I'm not obsessed with the gym but I think a certain amount of
fitness is important. I'll read classic literature sometimes or
play video games. I'll watch The Daily Show and The History
Channel. I'll drink, but never to excess.
I laugh at the world most of the time, myself included, because
when I stop and really consider the world situation I have to shake
my head.
What I’m doing with my life
I am seeing all the sights and sounds Augusta, GA has to offer. I
am starting to go beyond the borders of the city by doing bit of
driving, but I am sure there is a lot to see here and I am
determined to find it. In the meantime I am working and just
started on a masters degree, which is both intimidating and
exciting.
I’m really good at
Computers and
new technology in general. Problem solving. I love tackling things
people I know are working on. I sat in on half the lectures of a
psych class just because a friend was in it and considered taking
the GRE for kicks when some friends of mine were prepping for
it.
Books too. When I sit down to read something I usually devour it
fairly quickly.
The News I love
keeping tabs on news and science stories. I think it is really
important to be informed.
I'm working on improving my cooking. It's strange getting recipes
from books and sites rather than the back of the box.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm just going to quote a friend here since I obviously know myself
too well "height, haircut and smile". I have to keep my hair short
for work, suppose I am relatively tall, and would like to think I
have a warm smile.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
A) I love
Enders
Game, have read the Hitchhikers Guide many times (I actually
have the original radio broadcasts in MP3, and they are good!)
sci-fi and
fantasy in general. I have a strange fascination with
fairy tales of all
kinds (including Angela Carter and the Politically Correct Bed Time
Stories.) As of right now I am reading a varity of books including
Choke and The Taliban. My recent reads include The Clown, Stranger
in a Strange Land, The Looming Tower, and The Lust Lizard of
Melancholy Cove. I love
Sluggy Freelance,
Penny Arcade,
User
Friendly,
GPF and
Something
Positive, perhaps not so much books, but better this category
than elsewhere. When I finally got around to reading the Harry
Potter books, I finished all 6 in about 10 days. I read
Angels and Demons
and
The
Davinci Code in about a day each. I can really get into reading
when a book grabs me =?)
B)
The
Princess Bride and The
Southpark Movie are probobly my
favorites. I can enjoy just about anything tasteful. Sliding Doors,
Dangerous Liaisons, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, X-men,
Crash... a big range. Story quality is important in any
movie.
C) I generally like alternative/rock stuff, but can appreciate
other genres if it's a good song. Current big favorites.
Linkin Park,
Renee
Olstead,
My Chemical Romance
Death
Cab for Cutie,
Foo Fighters,
Green Day,
Jimmy Eat World. Some Long term
favorites are
U2,
Vertical
Horizon,
3
Doors Down and
Altan. I have been known to listen to
comedy routines in audio format like
Monty Python or
Dr. Demento.
D)
Pasta, Chinese,
and just about anything with oriental spice. I'm a so-so chef who
needs to improve his skills, but I can probably make you a ham and
cheese sandwich to kill for. I'm a master Mac and Cheese chef
although I can share a funny story about my first time making
it.
E) (Cause TV ought to be here too) I tend to favor shows on the
Sci-fi
Channel like
Stargate, the re-airing of
Firefly, and the new
Battlestar Galactica is
great.
The
Daily Show,
Southpark,
Robot Chicken,
Family Guy,
Futurama and
Aqua Teen Hunger
Force are big ones for me. I wasn't much impressed by
American Dad but it is
growing on me.
The History channel is
good just about any time.
The six things I could never do without
Food, Drink, a computer, friends, family, my mind.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What a mad mad mad world it is.
On a typical Friday night I am
50/50 I am working, but if not, probably hanging out with friends
in some manner or another.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a "mini nipple" a few inches below my right one for lack of
a better word.
You should message me if
Any of this makes you want to or maybe wanna hear how someone can
mess up Mac and Cheese, or you just wanna talk to someone who will
often say "funny story bout that".
You don't mind me half joking about being a Pastafarian.
