I am culture hacking, adjectives, and hitting the trifecta.
My Self-Summary
I'm looking for serendipity around every corner. I'm pretty mental.
I exert more effort on philosophy than most people. I'm also goofy
(slightly dorky) - but that's coming under control. I enjoy funky
art, funky music, and funky people.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently freelance designing - buildings, print ads, etc - &
playing drums... Working towards live performance of my
compositions. Also looking for work as an architect in the best
economy of the past twenty years!
I’m really good at
Making music, architecture, and art are among my favorite hobbies.
I like to philosophize, conjecture, and postulate about life, sex,
meaning, metaphor, and once in a while, politics.
I also give killer back rubs and have been known to help friends
with back injuries / subluxations. Other things.
Pretty good at scrambled eggs.
I sometimes do really good impressions of people I know.
The first things people usually notice about me
Maybe they notice my brilliant, radiant humility. There's no
universal first thing, to my knowledge... Except maybe my
knowledge. The walking encyclopedia of useless information which is
my brain sometimes elicits responses from strangers of "Who IS this
guy??" I'm pretty sure it's not in a good way every time.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books: Pretty much creative nonfiction: Godel Escher Bach, Coming
Into Being, Atlas of Novel Tectonics (it's a lot of bullshit but
interesting ideas are floated in it), Digital Mantras
movies: Moon was pretty good. Eternal Sunshine, Brazil, La cité des
enfants perdus, Fight Club, 2001, action/adventure, all the good
sci fi.
Smart rock; Electronic music that's more than 2-step, less than
breakcore. OK here comes the list:
Apparat, Cepia, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Frank Zappa, Yo la Tengo,
Heavy Vegetable, Bonobo, Amon Tobin (sometimes), Wayne Krantz, Iron
& Wine, Grand Pianoramax, Oz Noy, Cat Power, Amadou Et Miriam
and misc artists from Tuva and North Africa (Senegal, Mali and
Morocco), Chris Zippel, Four Tet, Deadbeat, Ochre, pretty much
anything they'll play on Soma FM, Boom Bip, Trilok Gurtu, are you
tired of reading yet? I could fill my profile with the music I
like.
Omnivore, but prefer gruyere over velveeta. I love to cook spicy
foods, enjoy mexican, thai... I'll try anything exotic.
The six things I could never do without
a sound reproduction device (i.e., mp3 player w/ great
phones).
Salt.
filtered water. (this is a popular one, I've noticed people care
what they put into their bodies more lately, which is good.)
culture.
nature.
a best friend.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I've been told by many people that I think too much. So,
apparently, the wrong things.
On a typical Friday night I am
hopefully not having to work (which isn't often)... I'm
where my friends are, at a show, cruising on my bike and
peoplewatching, enjoying gourmet street food, and/or feeling really
great, because it's Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm way behind on pop culture. I killed the TV a while back, and
have missed some awesome movies.
You should message me if
You want to perhaps consider maybe actually meeting me.
