Creating a web page which is an accurate reflection of who I am is
difficult, and probably beyond the scope of my abilities as a
writer. Instead of droning on about what a great guy I am, I've
decided to compile a random sampling of some of my opinions,
quirks, anecdotes, and anything else that happens to cross my mind.
You're free to draw your own conclusions.
*My earliest childhood memory is of me nearly falling out an open car door, and onto the New Jersey Turnpike. My Mom pulled me back in at the last second.
*To those of you who think most people are inherently selfless, and/or will do the right thing in most situations, I ask the following: If you lost your wallet or purse, and someone found it and returned it to you with none of its contents missing, would you be surprised?
*Listening to Storycorps on NPR every Friday morning will move and inspire even the most cynical among us.
*I don't like sushi.......unless it was prepared by my Japanese sister-in-law.
*I like the smell of gasoline.
*I love licorice flavored ice cream.
*I give a good massage.
*When my two siblings and I were growing up my Mom would get up an hour before we did in order to make us breakfast......every day. Last year I thanked her. It made her cry.
*I know what a roux is.
*I know the difference between a chef's pan and a saute pan.
*Whenever the Oakland Raiders play in Oakland I think the collective IQ of the city goes down by several points.
*Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated JFK and he acted alone.
*I've never set foot inside a Walmart. (Update: I walked into the San Leandro store recently for the purpose of taking pictures for a photojournalism assignment.)
*I support all picket lines.
*I'm a good listener.
*People showing up late for scheduled appointments is one of my biggest pet peeves.
*I always leave the toilet seat down.
*One of the most romantic things that a man can do for his mate is to take out the trash.
*A bit of advice for parents of 3 kids who are relatively close in age: Pay close attention to the middle one. If you get the sense that s/he feels left out, set aside some time just for him/her. Do whatever it takes to help them find their own identity - whatever makes them unique. Then encourage it to the max.
*I find photos of OK Cupid members posing with small furry animals to be highly inappropriate.
*Libraries are still the best places to get an education.
*I don't believe in fate or destiny.
*I do believe in creating opportunities, and then taking advantage of them.
*How people remember me after I'm gone is unimportant
