I sing in the shower, laugh at myself frequently and try to treat people right. On a nice spring day, I'm outside eating with friends, reading a book, going for a run or cheering on the Nats. I like Jon Stewart and progressive politics (but those who play fair). I still look up to Josh Lyman and Homer Simpson. I'm a sucker for good BBQ, fresh watermelon, and banana, pistachio and hazelnut gelato (why choose? Life is short).

Public health outreach at a federal agency. In previous lives I booked guests on public radio shows and traveled the country knocking on doors and organizing volunteers for a presidential campaign. I loved campaigning but it's nice to have a life.

remembering completely useless baseball stats I learned when I was 8. It occasionally comes in handy at trivia night. And that time I was on Jeopardy! (true story)

I laugh pretty easily, often at off-kilter things. I tend to like that in other people.

Music: Classic rock and a lot of singer-songwriter, bluegrassy tunes - Gillian Welch, Marc Cohn, the Wailin' Jennys, Hem. And the Boss.

There's usually something in the New Yorker I can't put down. Almost anything by Joe Posnanski, Michael Lewis, Carolyn Hax, Atul Gawande and David Sedaris. And, of course, Gatsby.

I'm an enthusiastic omnivore. Special love for anything Thai, Vietnamese or Indian.

I don't own a TV but if I find something I like on DVD, I'll get hooked. I love the West Wing, Six Feet Under, the Simpsons and Arrested Development. Favorite movies include The Godfather, Love Actually, Gladiator, When Harry Met Sally, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the Coen Brothers, and yes, the entire American Pie trilogy.

My GPS. I'm pretty sure the navigation part of my brain is actually a giant hole filled with peanut sauce.

Other than that, I'm set.

I make a mean batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies but occasionally burn lasagna.
