My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A lot of people have told me that I'm an old man but in my head, I feel like I'm about 19. I love art, design and the people who make those things. I am one. I'm curious and eager to learn about the world around me.

What am I looking for, ultimately, is a long-term partner who values life experience over wealth and doesn't think they need to have kids to be a complete person. I want somebody to build a life with, maybe a business. I like STL, am a transplant, but I can definitely imagine moving away.

If this reads as "open opportunity" to you rather than, "guy who doesn't have his shit together," let's talk.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Besides plotting my escape from the metro east…

Working, making stuff, watching movies on Netflix or listening to podcasts, dining out with friends, attending art events in STL, working on my car (repair and maintenance, I'm not a gearhead), running a few times a week, trying to become a better version of myself.

I'm a designer, but that's not what pays my bills right now. Soon I'll jump back into the fray.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Giving the other person the benefit of the doubt, sketching from life, and putting together the perfect google search string (I grew up reading the World Book Encyclopedia for fun, no big deal).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm not a woman but a gentleman with exceptionally long hair. I'm probably one of the more polished examples of a guy with long hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I own many design books (mostly pictures). I like science fiction that says something other than, "Hey, wouldn't it be neat to live in space?" I need allegory: A Clockwork Orange, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Occasionally, I'll pick up some classic American or English lit (Johnny Got His Gun). Big fan of contemporary philosopher Alain de Botton & The School of Life.

I don't really care about organized sports. I've never been to a professional anything game. Yes, I realize I might be living in the wrong metro.

Movies: Critically-acclaimed, Award-winning dramas and offbeat, indie comedies (I sometimes enjoy "coms" of the "rom" variety) as well as mid-to-high profile Netflix documentaries.

TV: Girls, Louie, Mad Men, Maron, Portlandia, Silicon Valley & South Park

Music: Apocalyptica, The Beatles, Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Danzig, David Bowie, Kavinsky, Lazerhawk, Metallica, Mr. Oizo, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Rammstein, Rob Zombie, Rodrigo y Gabriela

Podcasts/Radio: Nerdist, WTF, Freakonomics, Smodcast, 99% Invisible, Radiolab, This American Life, Snap Judgement, The Moth Radio Hour, A Prairie Home Companion

Food: Indian and Mediterranean are favorites. At home, it's usually some variant on rice and beans with different vegetables and spices. I try to avoid processed foods and sugar. I like dark beers, but my cheap fall-backs are Stag and High Life. Dewar's & water, no ice. Merlot.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A glass of wine, your favorite easy chair and, of course, this compact disc playing on your home stereo.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to resolve my newfound idealism with my desired career path.

Whether I should just up and move to a new city.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to chat with, and later meet, an open-minded guy who's never uttered a catcall or sent a dick pic. Real talk.

You're a designer or artist of some stripe and want to talk shop or maybe collaborate.

You know something about local bands and want somebody to drag along to shows now and again.

I don't have a great deal of free time, so I tend to focus on high percentage matches (≥80%), barring that, there's gotta be something in your profile that resonates with me.
