I am Creative, Passionate, and Intellegent.

My Self-Summary

I am a passionate artist and consummate smart alec. I do illustration, photography and some limited amounts of sculpture and painting. I nearly always have my camera with me, so much so that my best friend thinks it is part of my arm. (Go Go Gadget Camera?) I love to travel (planning a trip to England for my birthday), love music (nearly all types except "gangsta rap" and opera, especially love rock and blues and if its live music all the better), sports (GO STEELERS! GO PENS! GO OSU! GO Manchester United!). Love to spend time outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing and just about anything else I can find that gets me outside and into the fresh air. In the winter, I prefer to be indoors instead of freezing. I like to play pool, go bowling, go to the movies, play cards (I'm a horrid poker player but its all for fun). I'm the creative sort and enjoy going to gallery crawls and shows, but being I grew up the only girl in my neighborhood, I am just as at home at a local bar with a drink in my hand, on the sidelines watching a game, or under the hood of a car changing my oil.

I'm not much into the club scene but don't mind going to them once in a great while. I would rather go to a local pub that you can actually have a conversation with the person sitting next to you or someplace with a good band playing. I'm also a bit of a geek at times. I play video games and goof off on the net and think things like Renaissance Festivals are fun.

What I’m doing with my life

I currently am working for a local college in the admissions department. I also do freelance graphic design and photography work on the side. As I continue to get more clients my eventual goal is to work solely as a freelance designer and photographer. I'm also working to complete my Bachelors degree in Graphic Design.

More random and likely more interesting has been my recent contemplation of moving abroad, getting lost and wondering aimlessly through a local state forest, volunteering for a couple of non profits, and getting a collection of photographs together in hopes of landing a gallery show in the coming months.

I’m really good at

Hmm, this is likely the hardest question to answer, as I tend to be the fairly humble and modest sort. I've been told that I am a talented and creative artist, I make no claim to such things, but its what I've been told.

I've also been told that I have a great sense of humor, again this is not a guarantee but I have made more then one person shoot liquid from their nasal passages.

My friends and family know that I would do nearly anything for them. I truly love helping others. They've told me I'm a good listener, to which I have of course replied "Huh? What did you say? I didn't hear you." ;)

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm likely to get the comment on my eyes or my curly hair initially, but people also tend to notice that I am naturally a happy go lucky sort of person. I love to laugh and try to find humor in the most mundane situations. I can also be slightly shy, not in that awkward lacks social skills sort of way (least I hope not in that way). I just like to observe what is going on around me, so my sometimes introverted nature comes across as shyness (also have been told that it occasionally seems like I'm a snob, standoffish or up to some diabolical plot) Once you get to know me you realize I am actually very outgoing and anything but a snob.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Personally, I've always wanted a soundtrack to play while I'm going through my life. Perhaps even give warning of approaching events, like *que cheesy romantic ballad* minutes before meeting the man of my dream or play the theme to Jaws moments before my boss walks around the corner of my cubicle. I just can't imagine life without music and whatever I'm listening to likely is a direct reflection of the mood I'm in, the thoughts that are on my mind, or the events of my day. With this said My lists of favorites is longer then Santa's list of good children, but here is an abbreviated version of it.

Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, The Doors, Flogging Molly, Dave Matthews, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Sixty-Nine Eyes, NIN, Bo Diddly, BB King, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Muddy Waters, Muse, She Wants Revenge, Abney Park, Stevie Ray Vaughn, CCR, nearly anything except hard core "gangsta" rap. My most recent concert (about a month ago) was Social Distortion.

I'm also a big fan of reading. I love books that take me away to another place or time. Ones that make me think or grow in some way also are high on my lists of musts. Like my list of musical favorites, my lists of books I love is enormous, but here are a few highlights. John Sanford Novels, Lord of The Rings, Mists of Avalon, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Most of George Carlin's books, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Fahrenheit 451, The Outsiders, The works of Edgar Allen Poe (to whom I am distantly related), the works of Louisa May Alcott (another distant relative), Kafka, Shakespeare, H.G. Wells, Lovecraft, Steinbeck, and many many others. I most recently finished Love in the Time of Cholera.

In movies my taste range but not as broadly as music or books. I tend to like romantic comedies, comedies in general, fantasy films, crime dramas, some action and adventure, and classic films. I can watch some types of horror and suspense films but things like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street really unnerve me enough to cause me to avoid them.
Some favorites - History of the World (really most anything from Mel Brooks), Life of Brian (and really anything else from Monty Python), Serendipity, Sixth Sense, Se7en, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Saving Silverman, Briget Jone's Diary, Goonies, A Christmas Story, The original Miracle on 34th Street, Lord of the Rings series, most Tim Burton Animations, Shrek, The Fox and the Hound and several others.

I'm a fan of ethnic foods. I also like to cook but prefer not to cook just for myself. I love Greek, Italian, Chinese and Thai food. My favorite comfort foods are Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. My guilty pleasure is Ice Cream. I can turn down most sweets but ice cream I can't resist, especially Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl and Pumpkin Carmel Pecan Swirl.

The six things I could never do without

I'm the simple sort and would typically say air, water, food, shelter, and clothing, my family, my friends, hope, faith, hugs, kisses etc. But that doesn't really tell you much about me so assuming I had all of those, I would say in this order:

My Camera
Art Supplies
Books
Music
My Laptop (though this could be under art supplies.)
And Autumn - The whole season just mystifies me. It is truly beautiful.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The Meaning of Life, why they put braille on drive up cash machines, will they ban beach balls at soccer matches, why people are so fascinated with celebrity gossip, where did I put my keys, how to fix the global economy and put an end to war.

On a typical Friday night I am

Depends on the Friday, sometimes I'm working on a photography assignment, or school work (yes, that may not sound exciting, but it means I'm doing art work most of the time). Other times, I'm sitting around a bonfire chatting it up with friends. I also can be found out at the local watering hole talking to friends or taking in the local music scene or at a gallery crawl.

I'm not a creature of habit, I love to experience new things. I'm just as likely to be doing any of the above or arriving home from work I could grab a map, close my eyes, point to aa spot on the map, and drive there for the weekend. Spontaneous and a desire to experience everything and anything (well mostly). I figure if I try it once and I like it wonderful I have a new thing to add to my list of activities for a Friday night, if I don't like it then at least I've had the experience.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a complete klutz. I've become good at falling, tripping up the stairs and other such things. So good I might not need a stunt person to play me in a film.
