I am Artistic, Passionate, and Adventurous.

My Self-Summary

I'm a producer and director of independent film, a musician and performer, actor and singer, and educator with my own teaching practice. I'm a junky for anything creative, and am extremely driven, both professionally and artistically. My fingers are in a lot of pies, and I love it that way.

I've got a sharp wit, and have been described as a dork by some and a charmer by others. My analytical side is as important to me as pandering to my inner goofball; one minute, I'll be ensconced in a heavy discussion about art, philosophy, or religion...and the next, you'll find me doing Hannibal Lecter impressions or pretending to trip over a chair. (:

I'm one of the most open minded people you'll ever meet, and will try anything twice. At the core, I'm a romantic, who feels that the success of any strong relationship, whatever its nature, is a combination of both sweeping gestures, and the small details...the "little things".

Okay. Since I'm using the words "I, me, and my" way too much in this intro, I'll close with this: I'm a huge fan of people who know who they are, like who they are, and are not afraid to follow their hearts.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a filmmaker, currently in post-production with "Themes & Intermissions," an independent feature film that I wrote and directed (and acted in).

I'm also a private vocal instructor. I've been in practice for a bit over a decade, "teaching the world to sing, one person at a time" (or several, when I'm teaching classes or clinics). Currently, I'm outlining an audio series of voice training, which I'm planning on finishing and releasing by the end of the year.

And finally, I'm working on material for an upcoming album with my band project, "Red On Black Sky."

Yes, I keep busy. (: But pursuing what I love, chasing my dreams with both hands, makes me happy, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Don't worry, though...I find plenty of time to get out and have fun, too... (;

I’m really good at

Reading people, and putting myself in their shoes. Yeah, it's a cliché, but I'm empathetic by nature.

The first things people usually notice about me

I've been told I'm very approachable and easy to feel comfortable around. It's not uncommon for people I barely know to open up to me in ways they don't with other people, even after only knowing me for a few hours. It's just something I bring out in people. I personally think it has a lot to do with being genuine, and truly liking yourself.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm well read, and extremely passionate and knowledgeable about movies and music. I also love great food, and am a fan of trying all sorts of cuisines. So, rather than spend WAY too much time on this section, I'll just let those details unfold as we get to know each other a little.

The six things I could never do without

I'm pretty good at rolling with changes, so I don't think there's anything I couldn't "live without". But things I'd miss like crazy if they weren't there: quality human contact, artistic expression, good food, my guitar, my laptop, and the opportunity to be surprised by life on a regular basis.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

...the ways so many people settle for less than real happiness in this life.

We, all of us, spend our childhoods, and often teens, dreaming about what we really want; what we feel we truly deserve, the kind of life that will make us blissfully happy, fulfilled, content, sated. The jobs and lifestyle's we'd lead. The good we'd do in the world.

Love is a huge part of that. We dream of the women or men we will end up loving, and being loved by...the perfect person who would compliment us, support us, impassion us. The perfect person who make us want to be better people...the perfect person who would make us never want for love or solace, even for a moment.

At what point do most of us decide we don't deserve what we thought we did? That those lives, dreams and great loves are unattainable? People take jobs that make them miserable, marry people they like a lot but don't really love, because they come to believe they'll never actually find what they're looking for.

A good friend said once that childhood is an art form, and I believe that. When we're children, we know what's right for us far better than we do as adults. As adults, sure, we see the logistical boundaries that would need to be overcome to live the lives we dreamt of as children. But most of us let that knowledge squelch our very potential for happiness.

I think that's devastatingly sad, and it's the very reason I try to live life to the fullest every day. I have too much respect for life's potential for passion, romance, and fulfillment to let myself settle for less.

On a typical Friday night I am

There's no such thing as a typical Friday night. Sometimes I'm out galavanting through NYC, going to parties, seeing shows, hopping from bar to cab to event. Sometimes I'm performing. Sometimes I'm out for a quiet dinner or drinks with a friend. Sometimes I'm home with a great movie on the 50" flatscreen and my guitar or laptop on my lap. It all depends on the moment, the mood, and who's there to share it. (:

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Okay...an odd forum to mention this in, but...I'm extremely tactile. I love to touch, and be touched. I'm like a cat...if a woman pets me in just the right spot on the back of the head or neck, I melt. I'm what some might describe as "polymorphously perverse" (thank you, Alvy :).

If you'd like to hear something more private that *that*, you'll have to work for it... (;

You should message me if

..you are someone who loves to laugh. Wise asses with sharp wits are welcomed and encouraged.

...you possess a sense of adventure. Whether that means learning a new language, trying a new cuisine, jumping out of an airplane, or just wandering around new parts of the City and getting lost on purpose. Life is meant to lived...I really believe that, and I'd love to spend time with someone who feels the same way.

...you possess a love for great conversation and debate; if you're someone who can sit around for ages, discussing all topics, from the significant to the mundane. I'm a big fan of smart people who disagree with me.
