I am not what, I once was, and that's okay.

My Self-Summary

Wine + Laughter + Music + Friends = Happy
Vino + Risas + Musica + Amigos = Feliz

I really like cheese, but I don't eat it.
My favorite flower is a gardenia, but I haven't seen one in years.
I sing a lot, but am not in a band.
I WILL make fun of you if we meet.

"Someday I want to sing of this immense poverty of our lives, this nostalgia for the simple things, this journey we have started upon towards tomorrow without having sufficiently loved our yesterday."
"Yo quiero cantar algun dia de esta inmensa pobreza de nuestra vida, esta nostalgia de las cosas simples, este viaje suntuoso que hemos emprendido hacia el mañana sin haber amado suficiente nuestro ayer."
- Jaime Sabines

"And we come to this place
like two convicts that have escaped
from the prison of everyday
and for the moment we have our stay.

You know tomorrow comes like disease to us."

Non Sum Qualis Eram
I am not what I once was.

I am constantly changing and shifting and growing and learning. I think those are the best things about life.

I was in school for writing and am now moving to New York.

I write a lot, though I go through phases where i won't write at all.

I don't sing in the shower unless music is on, but I will sing while working or walking around even if there is no music.

I think my height is awesome, though if you point out the fact that I'm tall please don't act like it's something I've never noticed before.

I have become obsessed with a recently acquired Holga, but cannot afford to get my pictures developed most of the time.

I read a lot.
I play a lot of solitaire on my phone.
I am very close with my family.
I had a cat who lived to be 21 1/2. I'd had her since she was 1.

I am sarcastic and demanding. Get used to it.

What I’m doing with my life

I bartend and serve at the best restaurants. I love my jobs and am passionate about wine and fashion. I try to read a book regularly, I watch people downtown, I get bored at bars usually, and talk really fast. I'm going to great lengths to find out about myself and humanity.

I am moving to Brooklyn in January of '10.

I’m really good at

Smiling and Scowling
being myself
being tall
laughing at or with people
humoring myself and others
drinking cider
looking bored
having fun
and being a friend

The first things people usually notice about me

How tall I am. I am VERY tall.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Boondock Saints, Pedro Almodovar, Wes Anderson, Tarantino, Brick, Donnie Darko, I heart huckabees, great expectations, most movies with bill murray or steve bucsemi and sleeping beauty.
Anything by Francesca Lia Block or Patricia A. Mckillip, Oscar Wilde, Richard Brautigan.
Radiohead, Horse Feathers, Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens, Led Zeppelin, Bjork, Modest Mouse, The Mars Volta, Tori Amos, Broken Social Scene, Iron & Wine, The Swayback, Norma Jean, Converge, DevotchKa, Silvio Rodriguez and more.

The six things I could never do without

Brilliantly written books, Music that moves me, the beauty in small things, rice, mi telefono and potatoes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Thinking. I spend a lot of time thinking about thinking. And about people, and psychological profiles. And serial killers, and why they do what they do, and why my hair won't curl the same way twice, and how I need to quit smoking, and whether or not that girl caught me scowling at her shoes.

On a typical Friday night I am

Drinking Cider somewhere.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I read way too many books about vampires and serial killers.

You should message me if

You feel like it. If I don't respond, please don't take offense. I am a busy girl and don't actually sign onto here everyday. I also don't respond to people saying "Wow, you're tall!" (when they themselves are very short and they say nothing else) or to you simply saying "Your hot" (with bad grammar and all, ouch).

Also, I am moving in January to Brooklyn, so I can't say I am looking for anything permanent, but making friends is something I love doing.
