I am la, di, and da.
My Self-Summary
I like to take my time doing things, so you could say I can be a
slowpoke at times. The simplest way to describe the work I get paid
for is that I help people with their insurance. It's not sexy, but
I've come to the realization that working for good people, liking
the people you work with and occassionally feeling like you made a
tangible difference in someone's life is sweetly satisfying.
When it comes to friends, sometimes I'm very social and out a good
deal and at other times I'm pretty reclusive. I can get pretty
rapped up in projects or reading a good book.
What I’m doing with my life
My friend from grad school moved to my neighborhood and we do a
loop, which we think is about four miles. Who knows? I feel alive
when I'm done. That's what I'm doing.
I’m really good at
I'm good with food. I don't mean that everything that I make is
amazing, but I'm good at putting things together. I'm particularly
good with vegetables, and no, I'm not even a vegetarian.
I am good with words too, the same way as I am with food. I'd say
most accurately that I'm good at putting things together. The kind
of things that require some intuition, passion and imagination, I'm
good with that stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not without charm.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books: I tend to like Tolstoy and Kundera (existential writers) and
Sedaris and
O'Toole,
Toltz
(hilarious writers). I just read A Fraction of the Whole. Read it.
It's so, so good. I'm serious.
I just picked up another John Irving book and rediscovered that I
really like him. I'm reading A Widow for One Year right now.
movies:
The Bird
Cage, Eternal Sunshine, any
Christopher Guest
mockumentary, except maybe the one about folk singers.
music: Right now I'm liking The Swimmers, My Light Sweet Fire,
Drink Up Buttercup. I also think The XX is pretty awesome and I
really like MGMT, yes even if everyone likes them.
I have also been in a very Elliot Smith mood lately.
Food: the love runs deep and wide.
The six things I could never do without
1. A city.
2. My comp, with internet access of course.
3. Some project to keep my hands busy.
4. Trees and flowers (biophilia).
5. Friends to drink, eat and be merry with.
6. The time, space and equipment to make a decent meal.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I am organizing a 'Creatures of the Forest' party. If you have
awesome ideas to share, hit me up.
When I read a really good book, it will stay with me for a while. I
really enjoy that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes I come home on a Friday and am perfectly happy ordering
in and curling up to watch a dvd or read a book. Then there are
times I'll go see music or meet friends for drinks. I like to go
out, but I don't feel that I need to in order for it to be a good
night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Someone said on their profile that they save their private
information for the awkward lulls in conversation on a first date
and I really liked that response.
