I am creative, strange, and a little bit weird.

My Self-Summary

I'm a writer living in the middle of a bamboo forest. I specialise in writing for theatre, but I rarely call myself a playwright. The bamboo looks like it's going to start growing out of the house at any moment but I like the sound it makes when the wind blows through it.

I'm organised but not obsessively: my DVDs and music are arranged perfectly, yet in an order that makes sense only to me. My room is semi-tidy, yet the living room looks like a bomb hit it three years ago and we're still getting over the shock.

Rainy days make my heart sing.

What I’m doing with my life

I've got seven weeks left of my degree, so I am currently living a terror-filled life. I work part time in a contact centre for a New Zealand bank and will happily provide banking information for as long as you'll listen to me.

Considering doing a graduate diploma next year, but am enjoying being indecisive.

I’m really good at

Spending money, packing a light suitcase, filling my wardrobe with an insane amount of clothing and shoes, organising stuff, carrying more stuff around in my handbag than completely necessary, shutting up when I'm sick of people, not being able to write a successful ending to a story, painting my nails fun colours, getting yelled at, redecorating every few months, being addicted to smoothies.

The first things people usually notice about me

The red hair. Failing that, if I'm wearing some kind of funky t-shirt, it'll be that. Failing all those things, it'll be that my handbag looks to be half the size of me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music:
Tegan and Sara, Stars, Elliott Smith, Bach, All American Rejects, Ravel, The Clash, Mozart, The Dresden Dolls, Ani diFranco, The Killers, Katy Perry, Lucid 3, Iron and Wine, Placebo, Paramore, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Lady Gaga, Santana, Shihad, Smashing Pumpkins...
I tend to listen to everything, but those are but a few of the musicians who I'd go and buy a CD of.

Movies/TV Shows (this is what's currently on my shelf):
Billy Elliott, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Finding Nemo, Eagle vs Shark, Monsters Inc, Ice Age, Wall-e, My Girl, My Girl 2, Mermaids, Superbad, Risky Business, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Misery, Saw 5, Finding Neverland, Labyrinth, Rent, No. 2, The Wizard of Oz, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Almost Famous, Friday the 13th, Donnie Darko, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, It, Rose Red, Peeping Tom, Save the Last Dance, The Birds, Psycho, Tropic Thunder, Mallrats, Ten Things I Hate About You, Lars and the Real Girl, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pathology, Strummer: The Future is Unwritten, American Dad, Dexter, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Law and Order: The First Year, Bones... and a friend of mine is giving me a whole lot of House to amuse myself with.

Books:
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
The History of Love - Nicole Krauss

Food:
Pita pizzas, steamed chocolate puddings, dumplings, most mexican food, spud fries and aioli from Burgerfuel (I used to work there so the love is common among ex staff) candy frogs and corn chips with salsa and sour cream. I had this chocolate and caramel cake at a cafe yesterday and it was amazing.

The six things I could never do without

1. My bed.
2. Something to watch or listen to.
3. Something to write on and with.
4. Rain.
5. My legs.
6. A planned trip in the not-so-distant future.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Whether dinosaurs thought they would live forever, how people can sleep for more than nine hours a night, how people can take showers lasting half an hour or more, bubble mixture, thunder and lightning, zebras, what I will do on my next adventure, why people complain about having a job when we're in a fucking recession, dancing, whatever script/idea I'm developing, autopsies and embalming, anaesthetic awareness, bone/organ donation, drugs, theatres, peacocks, my dream house, kittens, fireworks, butterflies, ducks, the carefree nature of most young teenagers, how I'm going to try and tackle my laundry basket this week, baby wipes, what I want to do to my hair next (it's seriously been every colour except green) Harry Potter and the Twilight series' emergence as the classics of our time, candles, what I should wear, living in a tree...

On a typical Friday night I am

Working, watching something, hanging out with my boyfriend or friends, sleeping, going to town... I don't tend to have a typical Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I hurt a preying mantis once :( All he was trying to do was snuggle into me in the middle of the night because I'm warm and he's cold. I felt something crawling on me and, thinking it was a spider and as I'm terrified of spiders, lay the smack down.

I found him a few days later, legs up behind one of my curtains.

You should message me if

You're interested in a new friend :)
