Your Notes
Edit your notesI am entertaining, mildly sarcastic, and kind of pale.
My Self-Summary
Most importantly, I can't reach anything in the top cupboard without dragging a chair across the kitchen.
I studied music education when I was in college. I really wanted to teach, until I learned that the parents are less mature than the kids. I don't really use my degree for anything in particular, other than just simply having it. I will eventually fix that, hopefully attending law school a year from now.
The only sport I watch ever is football. I'm a Steelers fan, been so since 5th grade. Baseball's too slow, soccer and hockey are too fast, and I really don't understand basketball at all. I do understand that I'm way too short to play it well, though.
My favorite color is red, but purple is nice, too. I don't really like yellow very much.
I like thunderstorms. I don't like hot summer days, nor do I like long walks on the beach. I don't really like the beach at all, unless I'm only walking by it. Too much sand and non-edible seaweed. I like parks though.
What I’m doing with my life
By night, I hit stuff with sticks. I'm a percussionist in a new-wave-ish band, Calamity Menagerie. Best way to describe it is "The Nightmare Before Christmas" meets Bugs Bunny. I've heard we're pretty entertaining, but that's mostly our guitarist. Not me so much, only my instrument (rock xylophonists aren't exactly a dime a dozen).
I sometimes act. I was recently in two films by Devil Duck Productions. "Tom Devil's New Year" was a musical/comedy (my band also did the soundtrack). The other film, "Group Session," was recorded a couple of months ago, and was a drama, instead of a comedy. I do comedy way better, it takes a lot of energy to do multiple takes of exploding in anger!
I recently started weight training again. I was in an accident years ago, and I used it as an excuse to let myself get weak. A friend kind of inspired me (in an odd, roundabout sort of way, and probably doesn't even realize that he did at all) to get back into it. I'm never going to be better. But I can make it so I'm less bad.
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
Of course, that's WHEN they notice me-half the time I blend into the background. (Seriously-the first time I said something about that, I was wearing a greyish blue shirt, and sitting on a windowsill on the second floor of a building on a cloudy day. The second time, I was wearing the same pale green as the tiled wall I was standing in front of. As I'm writing this, it's night, and I'm wearing black, sitting in front of a window)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My all-time favorite movie, though, is "The Princess Bride," which was also a good book. Other movies include: pretty much anything starring Adam Sandler (and while I have not seen it, I would LIKE to see "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry")-sometimes, the plot's just not as important as just having a good time; the Star Wars movies (especially The Empire Strikes Back); The LOTR trilogy (also good books); the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (haven't seen the last one, though). I also have a lot of old 80's/90's tv shows in my DVD collection, including She-Ra, Dinosaurs, Captain N the Game Master, The Super Mario Bros Super Show, and Jem. The entire first season of The Universe (that History channel series) is on my ipod. That's how nerd I am.
Music, pretty much anything. I like most metal (especially power & progressive metal), and I also like punk and new-wave. I'm not the biggest fan of country, and some new-school rap, though.
As for food, I recently decided to eat vegetarianly. I don't need those hormones and crap being put in my body. Judging by certain features (see above) I think they've done enough damage. I don't have anything against eating meat as a concept, but I do think that Americans (and most Western cultures) are too far removed from their dinner to realize what it was, and factory farms are an insult to life, not to mention crazy polluters. But I digress...
I like anything spicy, preferably something that burns the whole way down. Berries. Broccoli. Chinese/Japanese/Mexican. Chocolate (I'm a chick, after all). Food-wise, I'll try almost anything though. This one time, I was at a museum with my family (this was back in the day), and they had these lollipops with bugs in them. I asked if anyone dared me to eat one, and, not only was I dared, but Dad paid for it. It turns out, the cricket in the lollipop tasted way better than the artificial grape candy part did. Kind of like honey-roasted peanuts, but with the texture of potato chips. I would not try haggis, however. That's just plain icky.
The six things I could never do without
hot sauce, indoor plumbing, my cat Koshka (she's a Siberian, and her name's Russian for "cat," and she sleeps in my room in the winter and acts like a fluffy space heater for my toes), corrective lenses (usually glasses since I'd rather sleep 3 extra minutes than put in contacts), the internet, underwire.
