But do not think I have no “spiritual” side to me. I do, but it’s totally different from most people’s. Recently I read something that literally brought tears to my eyes:
“Be Humble, for you are made of earth.
Be Noble, for you are made of stars.” - Old Serbian Proverb
This proverb is strictly, totally, completely true. You and I and the computer you’re reading this on are all made of star dust. Our carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and iron were forged in ancient supernova, billions of years ago. We share a connection to the larger universe out there, for it is where we come from. As Neil Degrasse Tyson says, "We are in the Universe, but the Universe is also within us."
Nerd and a geek (there is a difference). Lover of movies with a huge DVD collection. Lover of books ditto. Lover of manga and anime and sushi (nom nom nom nom)! Enjoy hiking, camping, nature in general. Big on water harvesting and the green movement and social justice. Also, of course, astronomy, stargazing math, physics, and computers. I have so MANY different interests, hobbies, and recreational activities that I don’t have time for them all.
I’m smart (not to brag), funny (so I’m told), weird (obviously), artistic (I like to think), irreverent (ask my boss), and an acquired taste (ask my ex). But it all works for me. Mostly.
Starting over at 48. Marriage went the way of Mitt Romney about a year ago. Opinions differ as to the most important root cause. >sigh< But my wonderful daughter would not be here without the marriage so I wouldn’t change a second of any of it.
I would have thought that such an unfortunate (and surprising) turn of events would leave me devastated. Oddly enough, I now feel a great deal of Freedom and Hope for the Future. Whodathunkit?
I shall prevail in the end! If I have not yet prevailed, it simply means that today is not yet the end.
