Thanks for swinging by my little corner of this site. Online dating is an interesting phenomenon. You have this virtual catalog of thousands of singles that you can sort by similar interests, looks, and personality. Then you go out with them and realize that the actual ratio of quality dates to not-so-quality dates is about the same as you'd find in any other form of partner hunting.
On the one hand we have cutting edge search engine tools combined with communications technology connecting singles from across the area in ways our forefathers never could have imagined, and on the other hand about 80% of the girls' profiles lament about the number of crazy dates they've had on this site.
What have we learned from this? The more things change the more they stay the same. It's hard to predict what's going to be a good relationship from a couple of paragraphs on some profile. A long term relationship is akin to turning someone into a best friend who you might consider marrying. Think of how many people you meet who you would consider 'BFF material.' Now, add in all the pressures of dating, the natural miscommuniciations between males and females, and the day to day stresses of daily life.
It's amazing anyone finds anyone.
