My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, my name is Joel. I'm just an easy-going guy trying to live and enjoy life. Also I love hockey!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living in Brooklyn working on my PhD in physics at NYU. Right now I'm researching the physics of flocking and schooling in birds and fish.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm definitely really good at procrastinating, though I'm not sure how that would apply to dating... I've been told I'm a good listener and a good dancer.

I like to think I'm pretty good at disc golf, but I haven't found anywhere to play near NYC yet :( I also have a very positive disposition, even when my outlook is pessimistic.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm intelligent but down to Earth. I can be observant and articulate or relaxed and care-free.

There is too much to list so I will just put down a few of my current favorites

"The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Robert Heinlein
"Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit" by Daniel Quinn
"The Green Mile" by Stephen King

Ex Machina
Shawshank Redemption
Batman: The Dark Knight

Boardwalk Empire
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Avatar: the Last Airbender. I guess this is considered a "kid's show" because it is on Nickelodeon, but it is honestly one of my favorite shows ever. The character development is fantastic and is backed with a driven plot.

Pink Floyd
Kid Cudi
Gnarls Barkley
Explosions in the Sky
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
There are a lot of things that I would miss if they were gone, but in terms of things I really couldn't live without...

1. Sleep
2. Nice weather
3. Friends
4. Music
5. Games (whether they be sports, card games, board games, video games, I really enjoy a fun or competitive game)
6. Smiling
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about so many different things that I feel deserve more time to be pondered. Just recently I have talked with friends about empathy for animals (I'm not a vegetarian but it's weird how we only have empathy for cute or intelligent creatures), the physics that connects consciousness to reality, the futility of striving to explain the universe in terms of mathematics or even in a way that can be understood (like religion or anything else). I love having conversations that are anything like this.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
A typical Friday night I would probably be going to the bar or playing drinking games with friends, watching a movie, or playing some video games and browsing the internet.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a sucker for a girl in thick-rimmed glasses!
