My self-summary
I've happily lived in Austin, TX for 14 years. For the last four years I've lived in a condo in North Austin. There are trees and occasional deer around it giving me the illusion that I'm more secluded than I actually am.

My interests are a combination of social, such as having dinner with friends, and introverted, such as reading stuff on the web, or recreational programming. Occasional bike rides on the Greenbelt are nice. Weekend adventures with others, such as day trips, are fun too.

Although I have a masters in physics, I'm now a computer programmer. I've enjoyed both of those fields.

Since a "body type" of "average" lacks nuance I'm 180 pounds. I work out a bit as well.

For religion I've selected "Atheism and somewhat serious about it", which also lacks nuance. I don't have a belief in a god, but I don't think I'm bigoted against theists, nor am I particularly angry about religion. I do think that belief is an important part of compatibility, so I selected "and somewhat serious about it". Also, the difference between atheism and agnosticism is subtler than a lot of people think.

I'm content with my life other than not having a significant other, but I suspect that may be true of most people reading this.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a computer programmer, which I enjoy. Also, some other things mentioned in the summary.
I’m really good at
Computer stuff. I was good at tennis, when I used to play. I'm into puzzles as well.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure. I'll make a point to ask a few people and then add what they said. In fact, you can even give me anonymous feedback. I can take it.

Hmm, what would I notice about me if I wasn't me? Maybe that I'm a somewhat tall guy who likes to put a lot of hot sauce on his food (assuming I ate in front this other theoretical observer me).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I tend to read science magazines such as "Science". I'm also inclined to browse websites such as slashdot.org as well as various blogs.

For news I tend to listen to NPR at least for my morning commute. I watch a bit of MSNBC. Sure, they're pretty uncritical of the Democrats, but at least it's not Fox News.

I like movies where it's not clear what is real. Total Recall comes to mind. Inception wasn't bad. Then, if you watched it with a friend, you can debate which part is real. Don't worry - the friend consents to this.

My tastes aren't too exotic. I like Mexican, Italian and Indian. But one of the highlights of dating is trying new things, which I'm game for.
The six things I could never do without
Since listing things like air and water is not helpful I've noticed that most people list things they like. So ...
1) Friends
2) Family - In fact, I wouldn't even exist without them.
3) My smart phone (Android, but don't worry - compatibility does not critically depend on having the same kind of phone).
4) The Greenbelt
5) The Internet - Can you imagine if I wasn't able to make this list available to you?
6) The Alamo Drafthouse
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future. I'm interesting in technology, how it's changing and where it's going. What will our lives be like in 20 years?

I think about how I could more productively spend my spare time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Repeatedly refreshing my inbound messages in OkCupid in vain while crying.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The "mostly" in "mostly vegetarian" is due to odd exceptions - bacon and meat on pizza.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 32–47
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
I'm quite willing to be messaged, but I'm particularly interested in chatting with women who think they would be a good match for me. Or if you know me in real life and you just want to let me know that you found me. Or if I'm your highest percent enemy you've ever seen - I'm curious how that conversation would go.
