An intuitive and intellectual guy, with equally fierce appreciation for a sense of humor and seriousness. I regularly indulge in the following: sarcasm, Indian food, microbrews, ancient forests, reading a book that you can't forget months later, skiing at high speeds, weekend trips to the coast and the mountains, biking, Powell's literary events, farmers' markets, DVD marathons, drooling over old houses, and pulling down at the climbing gym. I have aspirations to travel more, and my mind often does so without me.

I'm a writer and artist, and pay the bills as a full-time graphic designer for an environmental nonprofit. I write speculative fiction (horror, dark fantasy and magical realism) toward being professionally published. I've sold and published a few stories, and self-published a few chapbooks. It may go without saying that I also enjoy reading — you know the word — voraciously.

My side projects include: editing a fiction magazine, painting, less often calligraphy and making fonts. At times, I distract myself with house repairs.

Pub trivia nights are a weekly activity for me, at least in the cold season. I play with a smarty team, and occasionally host the questions.

To extract my butt out of the computer chair and disengage the brain, I climb rocks and play ultimate (frisbee). In both sports I have more that a few years under my belt.

I enjoy the awesome wilderness of the Northwest and Cascades through rock climbing, skiing, camping, hiking, rafting, and biking.

My dog is smart and sweet. He likes the dogpark and car rides, especially to the coast. He is a pitbull, which you know is a sweet breed if you don't believe the hype.

Though I've had a profile on here for a few years, I am not a serial dater. Far from it.

Or I'm at home engrossed in a book, or cuddling the dog and watching an old movie I can't believe I'd never seen (or a dumb guilty pleasure movie, or a DVD marathon of some TV show I missed last year cuz I hate commercials).

Maybe an excursion to rock climb, or camping in the Cascades, or out to the coast.

I know where the Holy Grail is, but I ain't sayin.
