I am active, playful, and cool beans.
My Self-Summary
Iowan lost in this foreign land that is the South.
Quite a lot has changed since I last wrote my profile so I figured
an update was in order. Just finished grad school in May and have
joined the so-called real world. Have been living in Charlotte
since June and feel somewhat out of place, but it's gradually
growing on me.
I like to stay active and play a lot of ultimate frisbee. I played
for the club team in college and traveled all over the country to
different tournaments, which allowed me to see a lot of sweet
places. Currently taking a short break from ultimate due to an
injury, so struggling to keep myself busy :(
What I’m doing with my life
Working in the field of new energy technologies. It's what I've
wanted to do for the last few years, so I'm pretty stoked that I've
been able to do what excites me.
Been a little bored in Charlotte, been recovering from a back
injury that has kept me from playing any ultimate, so I've kind of
picked up writing as a hobby, and also been playing a lot of disc
golf.
I’m really good at
(Easy) crossword puzzles, math and physics, accidentally crossing
words out when trying to underline them, ultimate frisbee, and
minesweeper.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently I tend to hum while brushing my teeth, something a
friend recently pointed out to me. I like to walk at night.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like graphic novels a lot so if you have any recommendations send
them my way. I recently completed the entire Sandman series by Neil
Gaiman, which was awesome. I've been reading a couple Terry
Pratchett novels lately as well as reading some books on poetry.
I'm also working on the Harry Potter series for the first
time.
I like movies. Not sure what else to put here.
I usually listen to alternative music of some sort. I don’t
strongly dislike many genres except heavy metal. Some of my
favorite bands are Brand New, Motion City Soundtrack, The Strokes,
and Bright Eyes.
Favorite food is spaghetti. Favorite cuisines are Italian and
Mexican. I'm sorta an aspiring cook - trying to expand the list of
things I can create.
The six things I could never do without
Ultimate, newspapers, hot showers, books, my sisters, and GPS.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about current events a lot. I also think about energy a
lot, in a Neo-seeing-the-Matrix kind of way. Sometimes I think
about what kind of animal I would like to be (flying squirrel comes
to mind).
On a typical Friday night I am
One or two weekends per month I’ll be traveling for an ultimate
tournament, so those Friday nights are spent on the road. If I'm
not out of town, I might get together with a group of friends for
board games or disc golf, and less often you might find me at the
bars with a group of people, especially if it involves seeing live
music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have an irrational fear of ketchup.
You should message me if
You feel we have any commonality of interests. You should
especially message me if you can play the harmonica or like
Charleston Chews.
