I am inquisitive, impassioned, and eclectic.

My Self-Summary

I'm a strong-willed, passionate, straight-forward, complex, eclectic, and unconventional work in progress. Some people are scared by that, and that's OK.

I'm passionate about advocacy of all kinds, feminism, women's rights, universal human rights, ending domestic violence, and people in general.

I'm also particularly fond of make believe, existentialism, animals, humanism, liberalism, and progressive politics.

I believe very strongly in the magical healing powers of swing sets, board games, and hugs.

I prefer chunky applesauce to regular and crunchy peanut butter to creamy. I take my tea with a giant heap of agave. I'm prone to bouts of insomnia. Cuddling is one of my favorite activities. I like sex, and I openly admit it and talk about it. That does not mean I want to hook up with you or join in your threesome; nor am I an 'easy lay.' So don't bother asking.

I love animals. My cat (sadly) currently resides with a friend of mine and my fish, Hans, likes to hang out in his log all the time.

I think that if you hold a strong opinion about something, you should do your research to back it up. Educating yourself is very important, nay essential. Talking about things you don't know about, as if you know about them, just never made much sense to me. But never be afraid to ask questions.

What I’m doing with my life

Changing the world.

I'm a Resident Advocate at a Domestic Violence shelter in Benton Harbor. Feel free to ask me if you don't know what either of those are, you're not alone.
I also work at a craft store because I'm a crafty, craft lass, and I sub at the local library.

I’m really good at

Correcting poor grammar and spelling, laughing, forcing people out of their comfort zones, being compassionate, being supportive.

Empathy, but not just in the "I understand what you're going through" sense.

I'm very good at asking questions out of my own curiosity. Someone once told me that any question asked in honesty is a valid question. I'm never afraid to explore what I don't know and learn what I haven't in the past. I expect the same from you.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm told that my eyes are very catching, that I have a great smile, and that I have fantastic hair. I often question the last one, though.

I ask a lot of questions. Some people notice that, too.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I read a lot of books about social justice and feminism, but I try very hard to splash some fiction in the regime. I quite love the Wicked Series by Gregory McGuire. If you have any fiction suggestions, please pass them on!
I read webcomics on a daily basis. Some of my favorites include Diesel Sweeties, Questionable Content, Girls with Slingshots, Patches, Devil's Panties, and xkcd. This apparently makes me a geek, and I'm VERY ok with that.

I don't usually watch movies when I'm alone. It find it less fun. That aside, there are a few movies that I love unconditionally. Garden State, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Wizard of Oz, I *heart* Huckabees, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid. The list goes on, but the movie I could watch forever and not get sick of is 10 Things I Hate About You.

I currently have an affinity with The Kooks. But, my general taste in music runs wide and pretty odd. A random smattering: Billy Joel, Eels, Anberlin, The Shins, The Polyphonic Spree, Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips, The Beatles, The New Pornographers, Joshua Radin, Ben Folds, Beulah, The Bird and the Bee, Umbrellas, The White Stripes, Simon and Garfunkel, Rooney, Plain White T's, Ozma...I'm going to stop listing now. Oh, and I dare anyone not to dance to Martin Sexton's "Diner."

I'm a sucker for pasta and goldfish crackers. But I also enjoy hummus, various fruit juices, tofu, hemp milk, cauliflower, chai, soy beans, and couscous. I really love couscous.

The six things I could never do without

Without analyzing this too much, and in no certain order:

1. Chapstick.

2. My feet...they take me places.

3. People.

4. Sunlight. If I lost everything, I would still need sunlight. Seriously.

5. My pets.

6. Unfortunately, various medications...unless you want me to eat you.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The most random things you can think of. Why people paint walls certain colors, why women insist on wearing fuzzy boots (I mean, really), why people are violent (this one constantly boggles my mind), who decided standardized testing was a good measure of levels of learning...

You know, the usual.

On a typical Friday night I am

I really don't have a typical anything. As stressful as it is, or may seem, I thrive in moderate chaos and disorder. Mess is a sign of creativity, anyway.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have lots of "secrets"...

I made a vow that until my homosexual friends could marry, that I would not get married.

My best romantic relationships have been with men who understand that sexuality and gender are EXTREMELY fluid concepts and live accordingly.

When I type "haha" during online conversation, chances are that I actually laughed. I love to laugh...I do it a lot.

Any questions?

You should message me if

You are/do most of the following: honest, feverishly communicative, an activist of some kind, liberal, very open minded, artistic, wear your heart on your sleeve (not literally though, that's weird), intelligent, and creative. A combination of all gets you extra points at the end of each round. :)

One of my best friends said this to me once: "You need a cute, hippie, granola boy." I would agree, with the exception of someone literally made of granola...though, that might actually be kind of awesome because I really love granola. Granola-esque features or not, if you think you fit the bill, let me know.

And please (I'm VERY serious about this) only message me if you would never think of asking me things such as, "What do you do for fun?" and "What are you looking for in a guy?" Those questions take minimal to no effort to ask and they're boring to answer.
