I am required, to, and fill this out.
My Self-Summary
I'm a pretty ordinary guy, courteous to children and the elderly,
(usually)bright enough to keep himself out of trouble, yet I always
end up in the most bizarre situations. Shanghaied (sp?) in strange
places like Newark Airport or Spokane, WA, on the run from
hurricanes on the last Amtrak out of New Orleans, having to jog 6
miles through Vegas at 5 AM to find my hotel, being robbed by
strippers and hobos, accosted by police and pool security, dead
bodies floating ashore in the Hillsborough 10 feet from my
dormitory house - I'm sort of a magnet for the surreal. But I
promise, I'm a normal guy. I just have an abnormal empirical
learning curve. When I'm not navigating some misadventure, I enjoy
a good book, exercise, chilling out and enjoying an evening in with
a movie or maybe some Adult Swim, having a pint with my mates, and
lovingly bickering with my family about whether "I don't call
enough."
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, field property adjustment as part of a catastrophe
response team for an insurance company (I travel... a lot). I'm
also part of several investment opportunities in local shitty
watering holes at which I spend far too much free time when I'm
actually home. I'm hoping to go back to school and finish up my
masters soon-ish (right after I accrue enough airline miles and
steal enough office supplies from my job).
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't fit in. No, literally, I'm huge, 6'6", I don't fit,
anywhere. That in concert with my WINNING SMILE :-D, my colorful
use of profanity, and keen love of fine brew.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Crichton, HS Thompson, Bukowski, some Hemingway, Stephen Hunter for
artful violence, horror greats like King and Koontz, Steven Levitt,
Robin Moore, HG Wells and Jules Verne (cuz I'm a nerd).
As movies are too many to count, I'll go by director: absolutely
anything by Michael Mann, most David Fincher, all Christopher Nolan
(yeah all 4.5 of 'em), early Tarantino, most Spielberg, all
Scorcese, Robert Altman, some Tony Scott, most Ridley Scott, early
James Cameron, some Tim Burton, Francis Coppola, Sophie Coppola
(mostly her screenwriting though), Eastwood's stuff, on that note
Sergio Leone's too, Romero, Spike Lee joints, Spike Jonze joints,
everything Soderbergh has done, a lot more I'm not going to
list.
Butterfield, Clapton, Simon + Garfunkel, Hendrix, Floyd, The Who,
Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, STP, Pearl Jam, Korn, System of a Down,
Rage, Jay-Z, Tenacious D, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Nine
Inch Nails, Radiohead, Sublime, Sandy Bull, Metallica, Zombie,
Kronos Quartet, Chemical Bros.
I am the least picky eater ever. Long as its not some bizarre
smelling fish, I'll give it a shot.
On a typical Friday night I am
coming up with strange and sometimes histrionic new ways for my
friends and I to coax people into our bar to spend money and be
merry, or something similarly mischevious
You should message me if
you like a tall man with a sense of humor, or have similiar travel
oddities you'd care to share.
