I am quirky, entertaining, and intelligent.

My Self-Summary

Me in a nutshell (that phrase always reminds me of Austin Powers): I am fiercely intelligent, funny, love to read, out-going yet insanely shy, Christian but liberal, etc, etc. I watch people constantly and think highly entertaining things. People who watch me may notice me constantly smirking at apparently nothing, when in actuality I am laughing at myself or some random thought that has just popped into my head. I have declared that being inside my head is frequently like being in a musical on crack and I identify entirely too much with JD on Scrubs. I am pretty crafty, and spend a good portion of my time talking to knitters, about knitters, or buying yarn and knitting (although I never really seem to finish anything). Which I realize could make me sound very old and boring, but only if you don't know any knitters. You have no idea how funny knitters can be.

What I’m doing with my life

I just finished both having my soul crushed and my thesis on 20th Century Irish literature with a post-colonial focus and am working at a non-profit as a communications person. Eventually, I shall write a blockbuster of a novel, make tons of money, and move into a villa in Italy with one of my friends, where we shall torment our pool boys.

I’m really good at

Debating. I like to debate, although I've gotten pretty good at not being obnoxious about it.

Any kind of word games. It actually gets to be a lot of pressure, but my skills are legendary. Sigh. It can be hard being so amazing.

Crafty things. Like knitting. Or weaving. Or doing stuff with clay.

Dancing. I'm a surprisingly decent dancer.

Analyzing stuff. I blame the English major training.

Listening.

The first things people usually notice about me

My dimple and my curly hair. And smile. :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I don't really have absolute favorites, though I LOVED White Noise by DeLillo, and The English Patient. Being an English major taught me to rip books to shreds, so a book must be really good for me to really love it. I tend to space out, though, with sci-fi or fantasy books. So yes, I do win entry into the sci-fi nerds club through my having read frequently and being able to occasionally quote from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Movie-wise, quirky humor entertains me, so Life Aquatic, The Princess Bride, The Three Amigos, such classics as these. I do like romantic comedies, but... There is no but. I just like them, no excuses necessary. I stay away from horror movies, or any movie with lots of meaningless, gruesome violence, mainly because I don't like seeing people portray the loss of human life as worth nothing more than a mild plot enhancement. The caviate to this is that if it's clearly a comedy movie (The Mummy III comes to mind), it doesn't really bother me.

Music, I like anything and everything. I used to say that I liked anything but dirty rap, but some of it entertains me. (My friends and I were going to arrange an acapella version of "What's Your Fantasy." It would have been awesome.) I'm trying to actually listen to all of the music on my ipod (I have 4000 songs), but I wind up listening to the same things over and over again. Recent plays include Sara Barelles, Suicidal Tendencies, Sublime, Keane, Alison Krauss, James Taylor (he's my comfort artist), The Weepies. And I once declared that I would go gay for Dar Williams. I adore Dar Williams.

The six things I could never do without

Not in any particular order: 1. Books. I love escaping from reality into a good book. 2. Music. 3. Faith. As much as I hate to be all religious-y, my faith really is important to me, especially when I going through hard times. 4. Friends. 5. Conversation which winds into a million different topics and lasts for hours. 6. Family.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

conversations. That sounds weird, but I spend a lot of my time imagining interactions with other people, how they are going to go, what the other person will say, and how I'll respond.

On a typical Friday night I am

It depends. Either at home, curled up with a book or a movie, or out with friends. More frequently the book or movie route, although I'm trying to be more social these days.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I will judge you for your grammatical skills. I will try not to, but seriously? U does not equal you. (I realize that makes me sound like a snob, but I can live with that.)

You should message me if

If you're looking to hang out with an intelligent girl who can hold her own in a debate. Or if you too love Dar. Or if anything seems mildly entertaining. Or if you're bored.

After reading some of the absolutely disgusting comments in the recent internet-wide marketed discussion in the forums, I would like to say please don't message me if you are looking for a skinny girl. I'm curvy and very classic looking. Think Botticelli with a few extra pounds (his paintings, not the painter himself).
