My self-summary Propose an edit
{Updated 8/05/08}
You might be my soul mate if you are a Tai Chi practicing snowboard
champion who could fix the flat on my car and might even be a
rockstar. Or maybe you just get the reference; I’ll take what I can
get.
I’m a recent college graduate who loves teaching swimming, writing
books, poking brains for fun and profit, and watching the Disney
Channel, but not necessarily at the same time. I love children, and
Kate Gosselin is my hero (please let me know if you can help me out
in my never-ending quest to duplicate her amazingly cute haircut).
I’m a Slytherclaw looking for a fellow Slytherclaw, but I’ll make
exceptions for cute Ravenpuffs or Slytherpuffs. If you A.) know
what I’m talking about and B.) know why Batman is also a
Slytherclaw, why have you not messaged me yet! Warning: I might be
able to out-nerd you, and you wouldn’t want to be out-nerd’d, would
you?
I’m open-minded but not tolerant. I’m a libertarian agnostic
Objectivist who is very passionate about LGBT rights (gay marriage
and gay adoption are things that I love), women’s rights, rape
awareness/education, scientific research/education (evolution, stem
cells, and genetic research are yet more things that I love), and a
host of other similar things. If any of the words in the previous
sentence offend or bother you or if you disagree with them in any
way, we likely wouldn’t have a very successful first date, so
please, save time for both of us and find another lovely person to
message. Failing that, I’m here for friends, too, but please make
yourself clear in your first contact if that’s what you’re looking
for.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I have a dual degree at a 4-year university in two subjects that I
adore (Psychology and English). Alas neither of these degrees will
land me a shot at the lifestyle I’d like to become accustomed to,
so I’m currently attending a Neurobiology doctoral program. I’m
just getting started, so ask me in a few months how school is
going, but as of now I expect to do a lot of studying, become best
friends with lab rats (who I hear are absolutely thrilling
conversation partners), and become very acquainted with the phrase
“hard work.”
After I finish school, which I’ve been assured will be sometime in
the next four to four thousand years, I plan to conduct research
concerning neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s or disorders
of the autistic spectrum.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Past advisors have assured me that I’m really good at slicing
brains; fortunately, this is, indeed, relevant to my interests (I
smell a macro waiting to happen). I’ve also been known to have
talents in teaching swimming, writing, relating to children, and
public speaking. Finally, as a friend will tell you, I know a funny
story about substantia gelatinosa.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
Well, assuming that they weren’t too blindsided by my breathtaking
good looks to notice much of anything, they soon discover that I’m
older than I look, tougher than I look, and every bit as short as I
look. They’ll also probably notice the abundance of
swimming-related t-shirts, unless of course they are sporting one
of their own, in which case we’re much too busy discussing how
butterfly is indeed the sexiest stroke to notice much of anything.
(Yes, it is, and if you're not curious yet, you should be.)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
BOOKS: These don’t change -- Les Miserables, Victor Hugo and The
Fountainhead, Ayn Rand. Yes, I reconciled them. Ask me.
MOVIES: Superhero movies, including Batman and Lesser Heroes Who
are Not Batman. Almost any science fiction, as long as things stay
at least somewhat scientific and don’t get too hung up on giant
robots (not that some giant robots, like Gundams, are not made of
win). Cute things such as High School Musical -- and yes, Sharpay
is love.
FOOD: I always need more smoothies and more chocolate. Baked
potatoes, good sandwiches, steak and fried ice cream are also
always good to have.
MUSIC: You should be aware that I listen to the musical stylings of
Miss Hannah Montana and do not care what you think about it. I will
also try anything once, but be aware that I usually go back to
upbeat Disney tunes when you’re not looking. I’ve never met a song
with screaming or negativity in it that I liked.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
No, no, that’s too boring. Let’s go with “The 7 Things I Hate About
You”!
But maybe I can’t think of seven things. That’d certainly be ideal,
wouldn’t it? Why don’t you point me over to your profile, and I’ll
see what I can come up with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
I think about and plan for the future. I used to spend a lot of
time worrying about the future, but I’ve since begun replacing
worries with actions. I spend quite a bit of time on my lab work,
or at least I will once school starts, so expect thirteen-syllable
words spewed at you at random intervals. Unfortunately, I am not
kidding; ask my friends who have the misfortune of talking to me
during a big project.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Likely, I’ll be trying not to be in the lab and failing miserably,
but I’m usually open to attempts to remove me from my bench, as
long as said attempts are made by people with interesting things to
say and interesting ideas for alternatives to the company of my
rats.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I’m a virgin and not looking for casual sex. Please don’t ask for
it; you will be turned down. Before messaging me in a romantic
sense, please understand that that particular adventure with you
and me probably won’t be happening for a long time, perhaps never.
I’d be happy to share my full views on this subject elsewhere, but
alas that falls farther into “private” than I’m willing to disclose
on this profile. Ask me if you’re curious.
You should message me if Propose an edit
You should; I like mail! I’m trying to turn over a new leaf of
always responding to messages, although please be aware that I have
high dating standards and might not be interested in you in a
romantic sense. Those looking for friends and penpals are also free
to send a message.
I ask that you please give some serious thought before writing to
me as to whether or not you think we could be good friends and/or
good dates. If there appear to be major ideological differences
between us, please find another potential match -- I’m not it, I
promise. I’m looking for similarity and an equal. Do you fit that
bill?
