Now that I'm back I find myself with way too much spare time and too few friends to take care of that... so if you are like me and dread having to spend the holidays on your own be sure to let me know!
Since you probably want to know what sort of person you would meet I suppose these are some pointers that begin to describe the unlimited complexity that makes me me:
1. Student. After scoring a History degree I'm now occupying myself with the study of Anthropology, the study of humans. I got selected for a Honoursprogramme and the last 2,5 months I've been staying on Aruba for a research project, looking into the youth population of San Nicolas. Besides that I've a wide range of interests, especially social issues, economy, politics and of course history and anthropology.
2. Geeky - So yes, I'm very aware of the fun, the dark corners and the evil trickery that's to be found on the internet (curse you Reddit!). There isn't a video game I haven't played, I also love science in its many forms and I've got some rather outstanding hobbies. Whenever you let me get in range of your computer I'll fix it. Even if you haven't asked for it. (Even if it wasn't broken in the first place!)
3. Contradicting mainstream - in some ways more than others. I tend to ignore social conventions and always try to follow my own path. I like to get in touch with other cultures, unconventional people, well... pretty much anyone with an open mind and interesting story. Yup, stereotypical anthropologist alert... including the part where I like to travel a lot, usually on a small budget and with a more local approach.
4. People person - at least if I can believe the majority of people that claims to get along with me quite well. I take a positive stance in life and like to enjoy life without making it worse for others, even though that's not easy half the time. If I can help, I like to help. If there's something fun coming up I'm always happy to join in... regardless if that's playing boardgames with a few beers, a cross-country trip or a mid-winter forest-walk with your dog.
