My self-summary
Hey! My name is Henry. I'm not really sure how best to describe myself, but I suppose these are some pointers that begin to describe the unlimited complexity that makes me me.

I guess I'm best described as a somewhat silly hybrid mix made up of one part (somewhat) intelligent academic, one part down-to-earth redneck and one part adventurer. I have a vague outline for my near future, but in general I prefer to keep an open mind, set myself realistic yet simultaniously ambitious goals and work my ass off to achieve them. I'm a people person, which means so much as that I hold a positive view on most things and try to enjoy my life without making it worse for others. I also have a tendency to contradict the mainstream, often ignoring social conventions or popular opinions in favour of making up my own mind, based on a healthy mix of common sense and google knowledge.

My interests reach far and wide, as do my tastes in life. On occassion my geek levels go off the charts and you'll see me hold (and usually lose) fierce Reddit debates, stand knee deep in dirt looking for rusty nails and play videogames round the clock. At other times I'll be overwhelmed by a surge of (cave-)manliness resulting in the occasional campfire, DIY project or bush trimming. Then there's also the days where my adventure sense starts tickling, and I start making grand plans for dropping it all to go sail the seven sees (often while enthusiastically singing pirate songs).
What I’m doing with my life
- Getting smarter every day.
- Selling narcotics, candy, the occasional fuel.
- Headbanging to wicked metal music.
- Getting my Bachelor degree in the mystical art of Anthropology after already completing one in History.-DONE!
- Looking forward to a research master Social and Cultural Studies, while contemplating in what exotic place I will spend the year available for research abroad. If you have any suggestions by all means let me know!
- Making over-elaborate graphs of really simple things.
- Trying to explain my obsession with darts :)
- Travelling to random places by bike... because Dutch!
- The occasional DIY, house painting, computer fixing, gardening, glueing broken things back together, making campfires.
- Just bought me an awesometastic gaming pc! Well the parts anyway, now it's just a matter of putting it all together and praying that it lights up and says beep.-DONE!
I’m really good at
- I have collected 26270 29575-37995 worthless internet points on Reddit.
- I shot all the pigeons in GTA IV. I know, I'm a monster.
- I handpainted an antique plow.
- I ate 9 consecutive spare-ribs and didn't puke.
- I ran up 20 floors in 4 minutes 11 seconds and nearly did puke.
- I've biked well over 50.000 kilometres. Not around the planet unfortunately.
- I once came on country short of winning a Risk game, only to have my asshole friends team up and backstab me. Needless to say, it was our last risk game. But don't worry, if you are ever in the mood for a board game I'll be most happy to join in.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a guy standing almost 2 meters tall, with legs long enough to hate pretty much every airplane out there, size 46 shoes, a scruffy goatee, a haircut in dire need of some styling gel, somewhat lame jokes, a flair of shyness, too many random factoids, some fairly weird hobbies and a bunch of even weirder interests.

So... take your pick! (And more importantly, don't let first impressions decide your final judgement on people!)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
If it exists I'll either have heard about it or will look it up on wikipedia the minute you mention it... so forgive me for having a hard time listing my favourites. My finer tastes pretty much go all over the map and involve al sorts of weird and wondrous things.

Books
This used to say how I have two over-stuffed bookcases full of techno-thillers, dystopian novels, comic books, scifi stories and historical classics... but unfortunately I hardly find the time to read any of them these days. So I''ll settle for university articles and study books until I get some vacation.

Movies
Occasionally I feel obliged to torrent the movie top 20 and watch them all just to stay in touch with the latest big releases. Other times I will get in a particular vibe... let's go with post-apocalyptic zombies or tear-jerking prison dramas as examples.... and consume every medium in existence related to that. If you have suggestions or, alternatively, the balls to spend a couple of hours in the dark with me, I'm your man for the cinema any day of the week.

TV-series
I tend to watch every serie that captures my attention with it's pilot episode, so this could potentially be a very, very long list. Be assured that if it has strong characters, history, criminals, manly men doing manly stuff, real humor or something unique I will be determined beyond belief to watch it at some point.

Music
I've developed an endless list of folkish, rocking and metallic interests from all over the world, coming from all ages and ranging from Russia to Ireland to South Africa to Newfoundland and Labrador and everything in between. It's about as random as it can get and can usually be a pretty good indicator of what mood I'm in.

Food
I'll eat (or at least try to eat) pretty much anything*. But you can wake me in the middle of the night for Chinese take-away food or some good spare ribs with a good thick spicy sweet sauce.

Video games
Being somewhat of a major geek, I try to keep up with every game that gets released (as well as educating myself about those of the past). I'm not exactly a walking game encyclopaedia but give me a gamepad or keyboard and I'll probably stand my ground :) If you are looking for a gaming buddy or need some game suggestions by all means let me know!

The six things I could never do without
Privacy, so that I can be myself without everyone watching.
Freedom, so I can do what I want without hurting others.
Intelligence, so that I can understand the world around me.
Knowledge, so that I can deal with what life throws at me.
Internet, so that I can be one with the planet.
Friends, so that I can care for others and share my interests.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to explain to my future grandchildren that I met their grandma on a website that asks you to choose between starving children and abused animals. Let me know if you want to help me figure it out :)
On a typical Friday night I am
losing my faith in humanity and replacing it with an unhealthy mix of hedonism, cynicism and procrastination.

Or working a night shift at my job... yeah, most likely working.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love being tied up in things. Daaaaaaaaaaang.
