My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a happy-go-lucky, kinda-initially shy yet amusing, intuitive, and VERY loyal and caring person who enjoys a plethora of different activities, shenanigans, and topics. I love various types of culture and all that comes with it. I celebrate diversity, and truly believe it is the “spice of life”. In that vein, I’m a LGBT Ally. And, I wrote my undergrad thesis on El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. Plus, I am an atheist, born and raised.

I don't have any "luggage" and am most definitely not looking to acquire (nor distribute) any. I definitely do NOT take myself too seriously (all the time) and will not take you too seriously either. I would really like to meet a new friend who might become something much more. Though a companionship would do quite nicely, at first.

I'm definitely not looking for "Mr. Right Now" and am way past finding "The One" or "Mr. Right" (since those tropes are myths), but am very optimistic in coming across some great new possibilities. **IF we make any type of connection, I promise to be upfront and not waste your time with any mind games. I'll let you know what I'm thinking at the time. And, I expect and appreciate the same from you. Communication is key.**

Otherwise, I am eclectic, adventurous, and impish.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm keeping my eyes & ears open for my next calling - vocationally AND avocation-ally.
A luta continua...

And now, waiting for the 2018 World Cup.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
* being enthusiastic (& a goofball) about things, especially when it comes to friends, family, and good fortune;
*trivia – pop culture and history, mostly;
*cooking – I make great chili and spaghetti sauces and a variety of other recipes, and am working on my grilling skills (& doing REALLY well. I grill the best salmon.):
* being fairly open-minded about a vast amount of things/topics;
* utilizing slang from the UK in casual conversation;
* being very intuitive - I can read people and situations fairly well and correctly;
*listening;
*dealing with misfortune;
*being tenacious;
*getting around/finding my way;
*ironing out crazy situations;
*And, being a clumsy fool and laughing about it.

I'm not sure, but I've heard my smile a few times and my laugh others.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Too many to list them all, but here is a taste of each:

BOOKS:
“The Time Traveler's Wife" & "A Prayer for Owen Meaney" & “Queen Margot” – Sherman Alexie; John Irving; E. Ethelbert Miller; John Irving; Kurt Vonnegut; Isabelle Allende; William Carlos Williams; Ann Sexton; Charles Bukowski; Chuck Palahniuk; E.M. Forester; Dorothy Parker; Alexander Dumas; Daniel Nathan Terry; Alice Walker…

MOVIES:
"Silence of the Lambs" & "Romeo & Juliet" - 1968 version, & “Harold & Maude” -- I'm a sucker for a non-traditional "romance" stories, by which I don't necessarily MEAN rom-com's or out & out romances. I'll watch ANY genre just not a lot of horror, but you can try me. I’m a populist type of film junkie, not much of a cinema snob. I also love: La Vita E Bella; Le Fate Ignoranti; Search for the Holy Grail; Clerks II; District 9; Amelie; The Red Balloon; Sicko; Dear Zachary, The Crow; Run, Lola, Run; 16 Candles; Rent; Leon/The Professional; La Reine Margot; Waking the Dead; It Happened One Night; To Have and Have Not; North by Northwest; Mr. Smith Goes to Washington; Penny Serenade; Casino Royale (2007); Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels; Swept Away (Wertmueller's original version); Il Postino; Indochine, Arsenic & Old Lace...

SHOWS:
Like my taste in movies, I have a pretty eclectic range of TV show interests. I'm a big fan of a bunch of good-quality, pop culture phenomena, such as "Game of Thrones", "Breaking Bad", "Downton Abbey", "Misfits", etc. And BBC-America is a go-to channel 80% of the time I'm not on Netflix or Hulu. (Yes, I'm a Whovian. Long live Doctor #10!)

MUSIC:
I have a VERY diverse taste when it comes to music - I love, love, love the 'down & dirty' of Howlin' Wolf's growl and the emotive, roller coaster-like flights of songs from Iron & Wine and Jeff Buckley -- i.e. "Spoonful", "300 Pounds of Joy", "The Trapeze Artist", "Hallelujah", "Lover, You Should Have Come Over", plus, TONS more! Rufus Wainwright, Ben Gibbard & Sam Beam can do no wrong by me.

FOOD:
Seafood is still my first love, especially crustaceans. And, I stay as far away from processed foods as I can. As for cuisine, I love just about any type of Asian -- Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese (Pho!), Chinese... I'm not usually a big fan of Indian food, but LOVE Afghani, Lebanese, Turkish, and Moroccan. The absolute best meals I've had so far were Italian-based (there & here). On the other hand, I love dishes from ALL over the world, just don't try to kill my tastebuds with too much spicy heat. I like to revel in taste and texture without necessarily crying over it.
And, sweets! I’ve got a killer sweet tooth for chocolate, raspberries, caramel, marshmallows, toasted coconut, etc., etc., etc…. My favorite indulgence these days is Crepe Amour in Vienna.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
>Friends, Family, and Friends who ARE Family.
>ART/Film/Documentaries/Books/Music/Truth
>Fresh, non-processed food, especially Seafood, fruit & veg, and allergy-appropriate recipes (Wheat- and Casein-free)
>Travel & Culture - I've got both an active curiosity & a passport
>Discussion & Creativity
>Affection, touch, and giving
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
All types of things… Feel free to ask.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging with friends; going to events in DC; traveling to visit friends outta town; hitting a movie – at a theater or on Netflix; going to the gym; volunteering; and/or, resting & relaxing from a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Snakes and needles wig me out.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 35–47
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're looking for someone (near your own age) who will be a fun and adventurous travel companion from around the corner or anywhere in the world. And/or you want to try any new cuisine. I'll try just about anything twice. (I’ll make sure I didn't really like it the first time.)

I'm fairly easy-going, contrary to my initial shy awkwardness, and I don't hang too big a value on first impressions, if at first clumsy.

Please NO married or otherwise attached guys. Separated is fine, but if you are looking for "extramarital fun" or you're poly-amorous or in an open-marriage, I'm not "game". Best wishes on those though.

AND, please NO really religious types either. Unintentionally, I'd really offend you with my views on organized religion. (Example: even though I could appreciate the art of Saint Peter's in Rome, my mind kept going back to how much blood-$$$$ all that gold, marble, and gilt represented.)

Please have a clear, non-"artistic" photo or two to share. The lop-sided proposition of being seen without having the chance to see is not something with which I’m comfy.

Cheers!
