I adore masks and yet value clarity. I love gentleness and softness. Yet, I often use boa constrictor sentences to achieve this gentleness. I identify with the trickster god, yet I often see myself as hopelessly straight-laced. I revel in the eagle-eye-view, but deeply respect the worm-eye-view.

I love lighting fires on cold winter mornings. I like climbing things and climbing inside things.

I get high on energetic, impassioned conversation.

I strive to be comfortable within uncertainty.

I will school you at Scrabble. (<-- this statement was written prior to seeing some of the scores achieved on Facebook scrabble. Apparently there are some people who I would not school in Scrabble. :-P )

The other day someone said I looked like Harry Potter (sans scar). I have no real clear idea as to why. (Does anyone who sees my pics think that I look remotely like their image of Harry P? 'Cause I sure as hell don't look like Daniel Radcliffe!)

I used to get, "You look like Luke Skywalker," but now that Star Wars has been ruined I don't get this much any more. :-(

I also used to get, "You look like the guy from 'Some Kind of Wonderful'".

These lists used to be really freakin' long. A friend suggested (gently) that it might be too much. So let's just say that I read A LOT. And I love talking about the books I've read.

To keep it short here are some genres: Elizabethan poetry/plays, Romantic and Victorian British Poetry and Lit, Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century Literary Decadence, Modernism, some Post-Modernism (esp. metafiction and post-colonial writings, e.g. Rushdie), Foucault, Frankfurt School.

I don't own a TV, but I do have a home theater digital projector and a big screen. I watch lots of old movies. One of my current projects is to watch the 1000 greatest movies ever made. I started at the top of the list spring '08, and I'm up to around 300.

When I was a baby my mom would put me down for naps with classical music playing. So I fell in love with Schubert and Mozart when I was very small. Brahms, Bruckner, and Mahler can bring me to tears. And I simply must go to Bayreuth one day to see Wagner performed. I love most other forms of music with varying degrees of passion.

I love most things about food. Its production, its preparation, and (most) its consumption. Was vegan for ten years, now just tend to avoid meat.

How to realize "the moment" is happening when it is happening, and not 4 minutes and 33 seconds after it's over.

How to find and sustain intimacy.

Effective ways to speak/write the ineffable.

Effective ways to create systemic change.

And lots more mundane shit. I'm still trying to find my brain's off switch.
