My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Let's see, how to describe myself...

Trying to fold fitted sheets frustrates me to no end.

I have been to England, Scotland, and Ireland.

I have been cliff diving in the boundary waters of Canada.

I can't stand the taste of celery.

I also don't like olives but I really wish I did.

You'll never hear me complain about snow or winter. You might hear me complain when it gets above 95 degrees though.

As a kid, I wanted to be a Paleontologist.

In high school I wanted to be a Marine Biologist.

In college I studied Computer Science.

Now I work as an IT Consultant and spend my free time reading about the ocean and playing dinosaurs with my three year old nephew.

I have set foot in 26 of the 50 states.

If I had a British accent I would never stop talking.

I have been self-teaching myself guitar for 12 years. I'm still learning. Feel free to suggest songs I should learn to play!

I've been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans three times. It's so much more than beads and booze. Such an amazing city!

So those are some scattered facts about me! I am also the youngest of three with a brother and a sister. My parents are awesome, hilarious, and my inspiration. I was born and raised in Peoria, IL.

I am a Chicago sports nut, along with my Iowa Hawkeyes. I love all kinds of music and enjoy discovering new genres and artists. Right now I'm really in to the indie/singer songwriter and Alt Rock genres. I also really love live music. Locally, I like going to shows at The Castle Theater. Beyond that, every year I go with a group of friends to a three day music fest in Memphis, TN. It's always a great opportunity for us to get together and enjoy some great shows and do some bonding since almost none of us live in the same city anymore. I love going to the gym. I prefer doing weights, and sometimes cardio is a chore, but I have to go a few times a week. I really enjoy reading about science and learning how things work. Often times, you can find me at the Coffee Hound on a Saturday or Sunday morning reading Discover or Scientific American.

I would love to meet someone who isn't in a hurry to get somewhere and is more about enjoying the ride. Someone who values and strives to live a healthy lifestyle. Someone who would join me in Iowa City on a Saturday morning tailgating with friends and drinking PBR, and spend the next Saturday morning reading at a coffee house and going to the Farmer's Market. Maybe even someone who can teach me how to fold my fitted sheets...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Enjoying it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Grilling. Listening. Sleeping. Fishing. Dressing myself. Taking photographs. Watching sports. Being curious. Trying new things. Being an uncle.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sorry, but I'm going cliche on you here...I tend to come off shy at first. Or so I'm told...but I believe it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I tend to read alot of science-y magazines. But on my bookshelf you might find The Catcher In the Rye, The Great Gatsby, Pint Sized Ireland, Lake Wobegon Days, How to Talk To A Widower. I recently read an absolutely astonishing WWII novel called A Higher Call about chivalry between enemy pilots.

Movies: I tend to favor the comedies or historical dramas. Sorry, I'm a dude and I like dude movies. The Big Lebowski, Office Space, Superbad, Rudy, Hoosiers, Gettysburg, Gladiator. Lots more. If I'm forced to watch a chick flick I'll probably roll my eyes some and act like its a chore, but secretly I won't think its that bad. But for every "Devil Wears Prada" I have to watch, you can expect a "Braveheart" the next time. Fair is fair.

TV: Daily Show and Colbert are staples. Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother are in my rotation. I also enjoy my Animation Domination on Sunday nights (Family Guy, Simpsons, etc).

Music: I'm something of a music junkie. Right now I'm heavy on the indie-folk stuff (The Head and The Heart, The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, Trampled By Turtles, etc) and singer/songwriter (Iron & Wine, A Fine Frenzy, Bon Iver, Ingrid Michaelson). Love jazz, love the blues. And a laundry list of others (The Black Keys, Bob Dylan, Death Cab for Cutie, Pearl Jam, DMB...). I can get in to some hip hop too (Common, The Roots, Talib Kweli, ...) It would be great to meet someone who listens to more than Country.

Food: I have a rule that I'm willing to try anything once. Sometimes I come across something that I WANT to like so I'll try it a few times, but its not always the case that I end up liking it (read: sushi). Not too much I don't like though, I love some Italian, Mexican, BBQ, Irish, I'm not too picky.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My guitar.
My camera.
Sports in HD.
My free time.
My gym membership.
My Iowa hoodie. Saturdays wouldn't be the same. It's the definition of comfort.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whats next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying not to have a "typical" Friday night!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
People who believe that the Earth is 5000 years old and that dinosaurs and humans lived side by side at one time disappoint and anger me, but secretly on some level I wish they were right because the idea of having a domesticated pet dinosaur thrills me.
