Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
So, I met someone. [update: it didn't work out.] so, here I am
Updated again with a more recent photo from the cruise I took in
February. That was super fun. I wanted to wait until I met someone
to go with, but I thought why wait to have fun. It was an
incredible time! I'm going again next year.
I'm a former member of the Brotherhood of the Trustworthy Beard. My
BotTB membership was terminated when I shaved it off. I'm lobbying
for reinstatement, but it may take a few months.
I used to have a cat named Pierre who was, on occasion, very bad. I
have used that or some variant as an online user name on various
BBS's and later, the Internets, for many years. My real name is
Mark, but I'll answer to Pierre if you'd like.
I'm a techie freak, but I also like old stuff. I have a couple of
old cars which I like to drive. I'm quiet, but I can also talk a
lot when I get into the mood.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Enjoying my job, enjoying my house thinking about re-establishing
the koi pond that the raccoons destroyed last year. Finished a
giant software project earlier this year and moved on to another
team and a completely new set of challenges. I'm having to learn
lots of new skills, and having to work with a large team, and I'm
really liking it.
I'm also working at getting thinner and into better shape, and
oddly enough, I'm making some progress at it. I just took
retirement from my job and I'm doing a little free-lance work. I'm
looking for another job, but not very hard. This is the best
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well, lately, it's that I shaved off my beard. And my long, flowing
hair. and ... well, that's about it, really.

Well, lately, I've been listening to Jonathan Coulton* ... which is
something you shouldn't really admit if you're looking for a date.
I like a great variety of stuff, from Tom Waits to Tom Jones to Tom
Tom Club. And that's just the Toms. The old Toms. Oh yeah, Richard
Thompson, too, also. They Might Be Giants .. Neil Young ... Devo
..., Jon Wayne, Husker Du, Pere Ubu, Shakira, Tegan and Sara ...
What? You say you've never heard of many of these people. That's
all right, but maybe, just maybe you might listen to some of it and
I went to France this summer and had a great time sampling a lot of
great food. And wine, although I'm mostly a beer drinker.
Reading, I do a lot, but less than I used to do. Recently enjoyed
Robocopalypse by Daniel Wilson and The Greater Journey by David
McCullough. I really like reading books on my iPad, but hate that
Apple charges almost the same price as a paper book. Dammit, Apple,
you can share real books.
*I've actually been to three live JoCo shows in Austin, which is
all of them.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My MG, my other MG, my iPhone, and my 3 cats. [2 cats--one got
eaten by a coyote in 2013, which is weird since I live pretty close

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going to a geeky game night with my friends. Or watching college
football on TV. Or curling up into a fetal position and slowly
rocking back and forth. It varies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor. ... OK, this one will really
scare you ... I sweat more than 5 normal human beings. I normally
lose about 4 lbs in a 25 minute workout. When I go out biking,
people ask me if it's raining outside when I get back. Don't be too
freaked out about it, I always shower afterwards.

I'd really like to meet someone. Lately all I've been getting is
stuff from obviously fake profiles... So if you actually can write
grammatically correct English and aren't using a celebrity's photo
that you downloaded from the internet, I'd like to talk to you.
