My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I need to say up front I HATE to travel. If you do, I'm not interested!!! (Apparently my match filter questions don't work.)

I am a retired statistician born in New York and educated at CCNY and Purdue. My ancestry is Chinese. However, as I do not like international travel, I've only been in China once. After getting a double masters in math and statistics from Purdue, I moved to the DC area and have been here ever since. I am an ex-marathon runner with seven marathons under my belt. I have several trophies from work. Much of my time is now spent on Jazzercise, dance, and volunteer church activities, work maintaining websites at the American Statistical Association, officers at HOA and the Northern Virginia Country-Western Dance Association.

On September 15, 2006, I was "born again." Consequently, some of my time is dedicated to that. I belong to a non-denominational mega-church, the McLean Bible Church, which serves in excess of 13,000 patrons. (They also have satellite campuses and broadcast over many stations and the internet.) One of their major attractions is their large singles ministry. Hundreds of single meet there by age group. It's a great place to meet, socialize, and study God's word. They've held numerous courses on building relationships and dating. There you learn what the opposite sex expect of you. I personally know several people who married as a result of these courses and meetings.

Another of my favorite activities is dance. I dance almost every day of the week. This includes, in order of preference: west coast swing, country line dancing, cha cha, hustle, night club two step, east coast swing, two step, rumba, waltz, merengue, tango, foxtrot, salsa, bachata, and Argentine tango among others. My ballroom style is American Social. I've created and now maintain a website of places for social dance in the Northern Virginia area with some sites in Maryland. I especially like dancing at Colvin Run, Lincolnia Senior Center, Lee Senior Center, and Herndon Senior Center. As an officer, I also dance at Northern Virginia Country Western Dance Association dances. I've made dance performances at flashmobs and on stage. Videos of these performances can be found on my "dancebill" channel of YouTube. (I started the channel with acts I saw at several Maryland Renaissance Festivals.)

I am basically shy when it comes to dating. I am very honest and expect complete honesty in a mate.

The lady I am seeking would be one interested in a lifetime marriage relationship. She must be either single, divorced, or widowed. Caucasian or Asian is preferred. You get extra points if you like dancing, you're thrifty, health conscious, and like the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Philanthropic would also be a plus.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Things I enjoy include ballroom and country line dancing, community theater, Jazzercise, walks, and table games and puzzles. I love Renaissance festivals.

Political discussions spark my interest. If you agreed with President Bush on his WMDs in Iraq, you can count me out. We had no business being there. What right did we have to overthrow another government? I am pro immigration as it would help keep our labor force young and vibrant. As a Born Again Christian, I follow the teaching of Jesus Christ, who I consider as one of the earlier pacifists, "He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone," at a lady accused of adultery. (John 8:7) That was promoting direct violation of law by nonviolence.

Travel is not something I enjoy, especially when it involves flying. Other than Toronto and Orlando, my only other vacation travel was in China.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am mathematically inclined and thus love visual games, puzzles and tests. This includes Rubik's Cube type puzzles and "remove the loop" type puzzles. I play chess, checkers, and use to play Go. As a teenager, I was competitive with regional champions in checkers. I enjoy computer programming and thus voluntarily maintain several websites including a dance site and several non-profits. My main programming language is SAS which I consider far more efficient than Basic, Cobol, Fortran, or PL/1, all of which I've programmed in. Since I've been a Statistician for 30 years, I guess I'm good at that too. I've also grown to like country line dance and love to dance West Coast Swing, hustle, and cha cha. I can often be found at Senior Center dances, Colvin Run Schoolhouse dances and at the Northern Virginia Country Western Dance Association dances.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
As I said, I love talking politics. As a fiercely independent centrist, I usually hold my own in any debate. I even have ideas of what I would do if I were President. People will also quickly notice that I have a strong volunteer "get the work done" attitude. After they get to know me they will know of my honesty.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite movies include "The Ultimate Gift," "Tuck Everlasting," "Forbidden Planet," and "Norma Rae." Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor and Sally Fields is my favorite actress. My music tastes have evolved. I like country, Celtic, Gothic, international folk, popular, and rock. Being Chinese, I obviously like Chinese food, especially the more exotic dishes. I love international food with the possible exception of Ethiopian.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Absolute honesty is a necessity. I've recently discovered that in any dispute, I may need space for cooling off. I thought that went without saying but apparently not. Philanthropy and volunteering with a caring heart are requirement. "Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself." (Mathew 22:39) Money management is also high on my list. I insist on non-smokers and obviously no drugs addicts or criminals.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I love computer design and programming. This is shown in my dance website which is a combination of two of my loves. I'm one of those who program in HTML. Since I love programming, much of my time is spent updating the websites I maintain. This includes American Statistical Association sites as well as my personal dance and activities sites. It is all voluntary.

Being "born again" I spend some of my time in bible study. As a pacifist, I find that Jesus's teachings reinforces it. One of my favorite lines is "love thy neighbor as thyself." (Mathew 19:19)

One of my driving forces is: "What have you done to make the world a better place before you leave?"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Since I'm retired, Friday night is similar to any other night. Often it is dancing, volunteering, and TV.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm still a virgin.
