According to the "rules" as well as my own personal experiences, a
relationship that begins with the woman pursuing the man is
basically doomed from the start. Does this same "rule" apply to
online dating as well? I don't think anything meaningful has ever
come about as a result of my initiating contact with a man...Does
anyone have any thoughts about this topic?

Women contacting men
I joined this service a couple of months ago, and I've been
ruminating about the differences between OKC and Yahoo Personals.
The main advantage of this service, obviously, is that it is free
(although it demands a more significant time investment). Since the
service is free, there seem to be a lot more people on here, and
consequently a lot more possible matches.
However, it seems to me that the likelihood of actually meeting
someone in person is a lot lower on OKC than on a "pay" dating
service. I have come up with the following theories to explain why:
1. There are people on here who are seeing someone, but since they
aren't paying anything, don't see the harm in putting a profile up.
2. It is human nature to appreciate something more if it is
expensive, so people do not use this service to its full
capacity.
Anyway, if you have any thoughts about this topic, I would love to
hear them.
