My Self-Summary

Hmmm...self summary eh? That is a tough one. I always find it difficult to write about myself as I not want to sound arrogant. I am just your average guy in Memphis. I go to the local rock-n-roll shows to see my friends' bands play and I hit up local bars to talk to friends. I consider myself intelligent, but not overly so. I like to think of myself as midtown's own Cliff Claven. You know, the postman from the show Cheers. I am full of useless knowledge, but a darn good addition to any trivia team.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently I am studying history at the University of Memphis, though I could also have a degree in either photography, graphic design or painting. My current occupation as a bouncer in a couple of Memphis venues is nothing to write home about but it pays the bills. I plan on finally graduating in the fall of 2010 and hopefully flying off to Istanbul to get my masters in Ottoman history. After that I plan on getting my p.h.d.

I’m really good at

I have been told that I am really good at several types of art, but I am my own worst critic so I tend not to believe that. I also seem to be kind of funny as most people tend to laugh around me. Though it could be them just laughing at me...who knows.

The first things people usually notice about me

Gotta be my sideburns. Flaming red sideburns tend to get noticed rather quickly.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I own about 1500 books and picking favorites its dang near impossible. The genres that I am interested in though are history, horror and pulp.

Movies tend to be closely related to the books I read, though you can throw in comedies to the history, horror, pulp thing. Big Trouble in Little China and Ghostbusters are my two favorite movies of all time, sad I know.

On the music side I tend to listen to rock, ska, punk, Oi!, soul and loads of local bands.
