My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
One of my favorite moments in life is when the lifeguard at the Upshur pool whistles to signal the end of adult swim. The joyous outburst from every child within earshot is unbeatable...

I like to talk politics, dance salsa, and shoot documentaries. By day I work in media and politics. I recently started producing for a new show on feminism and economic justice. By night, I'm at the gym, on the dance floor, out on the town with friends, or daydreaming about my future as a political cartoonist (even though I don't know how to draw). I dig political satire and am drawn to things that combine laughter and politics. Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler-- I'm looking at you.

I love sports-- though I generally spend more time playing than watching them. My current loves are basketball, soccer, tennis and biking (I'm not good enough to call it cycling). Not liking Nascar is apparently elitist, but I just can't help it...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Reading the newspaper, making guacamole, untangling my headphones, deleting groupons. No, I do not want your $179 professional drain cleaning for $89. I did not even know that existed.

I really like creating things... whether it's producing TV or writing articles, the process of discovery and storytelling is what I enjoy most.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Turning a party into a dance party. Improv Level 0 at the PIT (will have to find out if I'm any good at Level 1). Feeding your Tamagotchi while you're away on vacation.*

*I'm actually not sure I'm good at this but am willing to give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Opposable thumbs.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Movies: Battle of Algiers, The Royal Tennenbaums, La Corona
Books: The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein, The Gamble by John Sides and Lynne Vavreck, Justice by Michael Sandel, The Retail Revolution by Nelson Lichtenstein
Shows: Arrested Development (though I haven't been able to finish the new Netflix series for some reason), Parks & Rec, Seinfeld, Modern Family, Monk, Real Time, John Oliver
Music: Vampire Weekend, The Decemberists, Of Monsters and Men, Passenger and all of Motown
Food: There is an amazing seared tuna at the restaurant across the way from me that I crave on a regular basis. I used to like sweets, but these days if you left me alone with a salt lick I would be pretty happy (please don't do this, I could die of dehydration)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
--extravagant New Year's Resolutions (these are the ones I keep!)
--old school track suits
--the fountain at the Detroit airport
--Toledo, Spain
--endorphins
--community
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whether I'd rather be a bus driver or a subway driver.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
at a house party, celebrating a friend's (or friend of a friend of a friend's) birthday, dancing, drinking a martini (extra olives please), and making my way home around 2am.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was once invited to join a secret society and asked never to tell anyone. Oops.

You like to share in good conversation, cold beer, raucous laughter, fighting for justice, and perhaps a pillow fight here and there.
