My self-summary
Bearded, tall, nerdy, generally inappropriate, excitable, wordy, kinda crunchy/granola, knowledge seeking, frustratingly optimistic, ENFJ-ing 70 year old man in a 30 year old body who is easy to entertain and as smooth and deep as the scars on Edward James Olmos's face. Or something like that.

I'll ask three friends to describe me in a few words:
"Intense...and fucking weird."
"You're an acquired taste."
"You were one of the 'indoor kids' weren't you?"

Also, it is accurate over on that right hand side that I don't drink or smoke. No, there is so special reason for it, I just don't. No, I don't care if you do, at all. It's all a non-issue, promise.

Here's to my initial awkwardness coming off as endearing.
What I’m doing with my life
Working as a Behavioral Therapist with children and adults with various developmental , neurological, genetic disorders, and intellectual disabilities. I've been doing it for almost a decade now and no amount of biting, kicking, hitting, scratching, and spitting will make me quit it. I love it.

About to take my BACB certification exam so I can add all those extra letters at the end of my name.

Outside of work? Photo-snappin', writing, wandering
I’m really good at
cooking, knowing WAY too much about movies and music (my sister calls it an "obscure-off"), guitar, walking into spiderwebs, absurd metaphors, sudoku, crosswords, starting fake bands, and taking your picture, finding the overlooked details.

What I'm NOT good at: sleeping regularly or well, shaving, keeping a straight face, parallel parking
The first things people usually notice about me
Beard. It's presentation ranges from still beardy but trimmed to old man winterbeard/magic hobo.

My height too, maybe? I smile a lot so that I suppose?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOK: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Walden

MOVIES: Yeah, too many to list here. Directors? Kubrick, Melville, Raimi, Wes Anderson, Dassin. Movies? Blade Runner, 2001, film noir, art-house, whatever are the most atrocious trainwrecks on Netflix (i.e. Birdemic)

TV: Breaking Bad, The Wire, Parks and Rec, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny

MUSIC: my music mood changes daily or even hourly so I'm not even going to try, nor could I, compile a comprehensive list here. Looking at my recently played playlist: Kendrick Lamar, Perfume Genius, Yo La Tengo, De La Soul, Andrew Bird, Death Grips, Black Lips, Mclusky, Tallest Man on Earth, The Budos Band, Otis Redding, though he never leaves this list.

FOOD: Only thing I won't/can't eat is red meat. That being said, I go to Farm Burger (chicken burger, no worries) and Radial Cafe so often they know me by name. Atlanta/Decatur is an incredible food city and like to explore it. I'm looking at your Buford Hwy.

When I cook, it's usually organic (we can debate this if you'd like, I'm not elitist about food) and local if available (much harder than you think). I'm fortunate to live very close to the Dekalb Farmer's Market so I get to mix it up quite a bit.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, family, music, and such are all a given. So here are 6 more specific ones:

1) Conversations, both silly and serious, so long you start to lose your voice
2) Hugs for greetings
3) Talking face-to-face
4) Playing music as loud as legally permissible. Some times I just want to go drive around just to listen to music that is perfect for driving around. I'm looking at you, Chillwave.
5) My camera
6) Every Thursday night, some close ladybros and dudefaces and I play Dungeons and Dragons. Judge all you want, but it is essentially a two hour improv game with my favorite people. Grown people pretending to slay dragons for one night a week: what's not to love? It's stupid as hell and always the funniest, most enjoyable night of the week.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything in view. I do not have passive or even slight interests in things. If I am interested in a new subject or hear a curious story, I must devour all there is to know about it. Thankfully I have yet to reach the capacity for useless knowledge.
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing laundry, sitting on the couch, finishing up some work. I live the exciting life.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–33
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You want to talk. Or wander around with a camera.

I'm kind of testing the water here, so I'm very happy to chat but it may take a little bit for me to warm up to actually meeting or, well, messaging. I'm on here for a reason, of course, and want to meet someone, but I want to be sure. Hope that makes some sense.
