Ok, I'll *try* to do this... I'll keep adding things, first books,
then food and movies, music at last. There's just so many... :O Not
just stuff I like. This is all stuff, that seriously inspired me!
:D But you may very well skip this one, if you too think, that the
ability of a simple list to tell you anything about a person is
pretty limited. Still like those lists. It's always nice to know,
that, although the other might still be a dick, he at least won't
annoy you with those spawns of hell, who get played on the radio
^^
I looove older rock, Led Zepppelin, Cream, that stuff. Also Jazz,
from the very old to the rather triphoppy, just can't get enough of
it :D But that would be hundreds, how could I write down even part
of them? :o
With Electronic music I mostly listen to Dubstep like that:
common-source-for-videos/watch?v=mbHzdG2bR1A or anything else that,
well, doesn't just stay the same ^^ Hugo Kant is pretty nice for
example. With Hiphop i'm pretty picky. Keny Arkana I really love,
and some very few German and English guys like K.I.Z. or good ol'
Public Enemy ;) Recently this beatboxer (which really is not an
accurate description of his talents, watch his concert at Royal
Albert Hall) "Beardyman" seriously fucked with me :D
BOOKS:
Love Sartre. This is also pretty much the only label I could put on
myself except socialist: existentialist. Thus, all the great
socialists, too, of course ^^ There's just too many!
Brecht! And all the other great writers of that era, Wolfgang
Borchert, Anne Seghers and the like. Brecht is the greatest, though
:o Hermann Hesse! And Tolstoy, those two I *love*! Kafka.
Dickens, Terry Pratchett! Tolkien (although he was a dirty sexist,
but he sure was a lovely guy at heart). Agatha Christie (although
she was a dirty sexist and worse. But how can't you love
formulations like "A veil might with profit be drawn over the
events of the next half hour" ^^). Poe! Oh, yea, and Defoe :p Lewis
Carroll, obviously :D The same goes for Aldous Huxley ;) Hunter S.
Thompson. Aaand sweet old Mark Twain :) Oh, Hemingway, of course.
Though some of his is so depressed, it gets ridiculous :p Oscar
Wilde! Vic Hugo and Walt Whitman! Philip Pullman. David Mitchell!
But also Calvin & Hobbes. Not the philosophers, the duo
^^
This does sound like I'm just copying a list of classics, doesn't
it? :D Apart from Pullman Pratchett's the only one still alive.
He's great though. Seriously awesome. The witches books especially
hide atomic bombs of wisdom in subordinate clauses, it's
incredible! Now, that reminds me of The Hitchhiker's Guide, of
course. I liked the Illuminatus! trilogy, too.
Hm... Haruki Murakami. Richard Bach is pretty wise, but pretty
dipshit crazy, too ^^ I like him, although I oftenly
disagree.
MOVIES:
Everything by Stanley Kubrick, of course ^^ Tim Burton's mostly
lovely, too. Brokeback Mountain, obviously. Fatih Akin! Cloud Atlas
wasn't perfect, but very, very nice. Also the movie adaption of the
Hitchhiker's Guide. Many of these new Pixar's style animation
movies, but especially Up! and The Lorax. Ghost in the Shell was
sweet, too. But if it's about anime, there's really noone, who can
mess with Studio Ghibli! I especially looove Princess Mononoke. And
the music by Joe Hisaishi is awesome, too! By the way, awesome film
about music: Xiao's Weg, don't know how they named it in English.
Grease! :D
Of course all those classics like Gran Torino, American History X
or Fear and Loathing, too many to count! Also a nice Harold &
Kumar or the like from time to time ^^ 21 Jump Street was pretty
comic. The occasional Tarantino is a must, of course. But no, none
in this paragraph seriously inspired me. Still nice to watch,
though. Easy A for example: Lovely characters, well-drawn and hella
funny! :D
Some shows did, though, like Futurama, Southpark, American Dad and
the like. But mostly The Sopranos! I adore them! Equally
psychologically perfect: Das Leben der Anderen.
About the older stuff: 12 Angry Men! Citizen Kane! Seven
Samurai!
No, stop, going to sleep, now! :D You know, just watch the Top 250
of IMDB, 90% of those are nice, and you got at least half of the
important stuff ^^ The rest I'll show you, when we've met :p
Just skimmed this... I like my taste, but, boy!, DO I use too many
smileys! :D
