My self-summary
I'm caring, easy going, and very open-minded. I'm non-judgemental, and I can get along with just about anyone. I can have fun doing just about anything, going out or staying in, both have their advantages. I'm always up for whatever, but can be indecisive due to being cool with anything.

I highly value honesty, being understanding of others, and open upfront communication. I'm also an open book and enjoy answering questions, so if you want to know anything, feel free to ask away, no topic is off limits.
What I’m doing with my life
I grew up in the U.P., graduated from Michigan Tech with a BS in CS (Computer Science), and since then I've been in the Ann Arbor area and have fallen in love with it. I'm a Sr. Software Engineer and I've worked at the same company for over 10 years now. I bought a house several years ago, and don't really plan on moving for a long time.

I'm a very independent person with a fairly busy life. I'm just doing my best to have fun with my free time, live in the moment, and enjoy life to the fullest. Always looking for new people to share it with.
I’m really good at
- Anything to do with computers, technology, or video games.
- Troubleshooting, optimizing, and finding maximum efficiency.
- Rocking out on the drums on Rock Band.
- I'm very logical and have a photographic memory.
- I have a green thumb and have tons of house plants.
- I'm told I give great hugs and I like cuddling.
- I'm a good listener, and can offer level-headed advice.
- You can tell me anything and it won't upset or shock me.
- I'm very empathetic and generally make people feel comfortable.
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically probably my bright blue eyes, that I look very young for my age, or that I'm always smiling. Otherwise maybe that I'm a little shy or quiet until I get to know people better. I have a hard time thinking of things to say out of the blue and am more of a listener, but if you ask me questions you can get me talking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I try to read a bit before bed every night. I mainly read sci-fi/fantasy books. I recently finished the Wheel of Time series, and am currently trying to decide on my next big read, care to suggest something?

I love movies. Netflix is like my best friend. It's pretty hard to pick any favorites because I tend to like all kinds and its very rare that I actually dislike a movie. I usually find at least some entertainment from them no matter how bad they are. If I had to name a few favorites: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Matrix, Avatar, Independence Day, Finding Nemo (or any Pixar movie for that matter), Inception, Butterfly Effect, Memento (or anything mind-bending or with at twist), 40 Year Old Virgin, Dogma (or any Kevin Smith movie), ... the list goes on.

I don't watch normal TV at all, can't stand the commercials, but I do catch up on shows via Netflix. I've been watching Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother recently. I have way too many series to catch up on.

I'll listen to just about anything and can appreciate most genres on some level. By far Rock would be my favorite though (all types from the classic rock I grew up with via my parents, to more modern hard rock). I love music and if I'm in my car I'm definitely singing along. Some fav modern bands: 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, Default, Foo Fighters, Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Offspring, Puddle of Mudd, Rise Against, Seether, Shinedown, Staind, Three Days Grace. If I tried to list fav classic rock bands the list would be way too long, and don't even try to ask me what my fav song is, that's impossible.

I eat pretty much anything. There's very little I don't like or am unwilling to try. Italian, Chinese, Mexican, American, sushi, whatever. I even like vegetarian/vegan food and admire people who have the dedication to live like that.
The six things I could never do without
This question is kind of silly. I understand its intention, in which case I should say something like: Computers/internet, video games, cell phone, movies, music, and my car. But I CAN definitely go without those things if need be.

Of course some more obvious literal answers would be: food, water, air, gravity, the earth, and the sun.

Or the more ridiculously necessary blood, skin, bones, muscles, ligaments, and organs.

But what about more intangible things like logical thinking, being open minded, being understanding of others, the concept of time, random ponderings, and knowing you have friends that care about you?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Random ponderings, philosophical concepts, space, time, the universe, human/alien civilizations, the future, the brain/consciousness, people and why they are the way they are, and life in general. I think about things way too much. It annoys the heck outta me sometimes, but I can't help it, thats the way my brain works. It's over-active, hyper-aware, it over-analyzes, it's constantly making lists, optimizing efficiencies, and it won't shut up when I want to go to sleep. Why doesn't it have an on/off switch?
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing something fun or relaxing. Just about anything really (or nothing at all, vegging out). I like hangin out with friends, goin out for dinner and drinks, maybe the comedy club, listening to music, watching movies or stupid YouTube videos, playing video games or strategy board games, ping-pong, skiing, kayaking, and a bunch of other stuff. Just suggest something and I'll probably be up for it. Or sometimes it's nice to just stay in relaxing with someone, talking about anything and everything, and watching a movie while splitting a bottle of wine, or a bowl, or a couple beers.

Oh and I don't usually do this on a Friday night necessarily, but I enjoy walking through the Arb (reminds me of growing up in the U.P.), you should ask me to join you for a scenic stroll sometime (depending on the weather of course).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know... I'm very open, nothing is too private. I would tell you anything if you asked, but here's a few for now. I'm a little nerdy. I have a rather large collection of geeky strategy board games (want to play sometime?). I have some OCD tendancies (it's nothing crazy I can't push aside if need be, but I can be particular about how things are done, where things go, and what numerical settings things are set to). I'm a giver more than a receiver. ...and I have two more I would almost write here, but they're not exactly something you plaster on the front page of a profile, so if you want to know you can ask.
You should message me if
You actually read most of this giant wall of text that is my profile and liked what you read. Keep in mind, that as a guy in a world where men are often still expected to make the first move (and especially in a medium where we vastly outnumber the women), I'm lucky if I get sent ONE message every couple MONTHS. Just think how much that message stands out. Women who take the initiative to actually write me instantly get +50 awesome points in my book. ;) So if you're even thinking about possibly writing me, go for it, you never know what could happen.
