I am musically inclined, a sparkling wit, and veritable laugh riot.

My Self-Summary

NB: That third item should say "a veritable laugh riot," but there's a character limit.

Which is to say that I'm an editor by trade and a reader by any other name.

I spend a lot of time laughing, listening to music, and reading. I enjoy high-spirited discussion, but there's little more annoying than someone trying to argue for argument's sake. I'm a feminist activist, so if that intrigues rather than terrifies you, that's a plus. Lately I'm kicking around the colorful leaves of my neighborhood and detecting cinammon in the air everywhere I walk -- fall is the best season.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm saving up my cash monies to travel around the world for two years, starting in 2012. I travel to meet people, to see new places, and to be more involved in this world we live in -- but I do my damnedest to do all that without "journeys" or "self-discovery."

In the meantime, I edit press releases in the Loop, work PR for my friend's band, sing in a local choir, and extend personal invitations to the finest bars of the city to know me on a deep and personal level.

I’m really good at

being sarcastic

being sweet

breaking down binaries!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Authors: Virginia Woolf, Zadie Smith, Sherman Alexie, Nick Hornby

I love novels, and don't actually read much nonfiction in book form, but I do keep up with a lot of political and pop culture blogs.

Movies: Holiday (I have been told there is a dreadful newish movie called The Holiday; rest assured I refer only to the Hepburn/Grant film of yore), The Awful Truth, The Conversation, Bright Young Things, Better Off Dead, Persuasion

Music: rock n roll, torch n twang, bump n grind

lately focusing on: Bowie (always), Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Girlyman, St. Vincent, Yeasayer, The National, The Who, Grizzly Bear, Bound Stems, Speck Mountain, T Rex, Santogold, Jay-Z, Black Mountain, New Pornographers, Patty Griffin, CCR, Lupe Fiasco, TV On the Radio, The Allman Brothers, Hem, The Twilight Sad, ABBA, Rolling Stones, Blitzen Trapper, Daisy May, Supremes, Big Star

Food: That which is cooked by others.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

This month, my Halloween costume -- the Goblin King from Labyrinth. I may have been Ziggy Stardust last year. I don't think you have to admit a problem til it's three times in a row, right?

On a typical Friday night I am

Shaking off the work week with a beer and a book, or reminding myself I'm young and dancing at Danny's

You should message me if

-- you have a good book or a great band I should know about
-- you want such a recommendation
-- you want to take advantage of this lovely autumn weather and go for a walk in the park (followed by hot chocolate at a coffee shop, because it might be lovely, but it's also getting mighty cold)
