My Self-Summary

I am a slightly outspoken, positive person who is finding the task of writing a profile of myself quite strange, as much as I like talking and writing. I also like music, people, food, wine, warm weather, and anything that manages to combine all of those. I do not like drinking venues that contain pokie machines or thousands of people listening to pop music shooting drinks with red bull chasers. I get bored watching television and will not spend my Friday nights cheering on the football. But movies, I like. I am opinionated when the conversation turns political but don't expect others to be, as long as there is some sense of social conscious and compassion.

What I’m doing with my life

Living it quite happily, but I guess I need to be more specific. I'm an anthropologist, working as a consultant and also just started a research project with Sydney Uni.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at arguing. In a positive way. The way that makes people get to know each other and think.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'd like to think my smile, but it is probably my tattoos in reality. I think also my confidence.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

These are my favourites at the moment.
Books: where do I start? Authors - Gaetan Soucy, Ben Okri, and Geoffrey Eugenides.
I like quirky, weird films. I loved Pans Labrynth, Let the Right One, most Tarantino, and any 1970's trashy horror movies.
I like music and going to see music. I love having summer picnics with music, wine and dancing. Electronic Gypsy Music, such as Balkan Beat Box is currently my favourite.
I love to eat, cook and be cooked for. Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, Persian, Morrocan and French are up there. I am really impressed with good tagine.

The six things I could never do without

Oxygen, lightning storms, the desert, people, and good red wine. Hmm...I have to think about the sixth. Ok, thought about it. Sex. I mean really I don't see how any of us can live without it. Regularly.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

There is a range of things I spend too much time thinking about. Some of them political and important world things and some of them kind of useless, like what would be the first thing I would say to the bat living in the backyard if it said hello to me, or whether penguins get excited by the Aurora Australis lights each year.

On a typical Friday night I am

I am visiting friends or trying to find bars and music places in Sydney that do not have televisions, pokie machines or multi-levels. Sometimes I am quiet and watching movies or if I absolutely have to: doing work.

That there are many things that I can not, shall not, and will not ever admit on the internet!
