I am passionate, intelligent, and kind.

My Self-Summary

Brainy, fun woman in her late twenties. I'm looking for fun, pleasure, and to spend time meeting new people. If a longer-term relationship came along, I'd be happy to meet that person with a loving heart and lots of passion. Hiking, intense conversation over coffee, snuggling on the couch watching movies and nights out in the crisp fall air...mmm..fall is my favorite time of year.

Also, since few people read through the rest of these, I'm interested in learning to drive stick-shift on a car. I've been taught before, but I am not overly proficient. Its becoming a necessity in my life and I'm not good with hills, or getting out of idle into first. If you are patient, I would love a good teacher.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a student. I'm pursuing degrees in Literature and Biology/Ecology. Made a switch to working for a small local non-profit focussed on transportation.

In my spare time, I'm working on an organic vegetable garden. I knit, dance, do yoga, and make fun of Boulder, Colorado.

I am working on laughing more. If you are good at making someone laugh, we should meet.

I’m really good at

writing
cooking
walking and picking my nose at the same time
being a total goofball
being a morass of moodiness
I'm great with plants.
Falling over with laughter
being a good friend and listening
living on a shoestring
being pissed off and intense
being Oscarella the Grouch
hanging out with my dark side, much to the chagrin of Boulder
swearing like a sailor
looking up obscure sexual terminology, just for the hell of it.
Then I use it! :-)

The first things people usually notice about me

So...I actually asked some friends for some input about this, as I'm not other people. Here's what they said:

bright and sensual
self-possessed
casual maintenance person
beautiful
creative, funny, intelligent, sexy and thoughtful
warm, loyal, sensual, aesthetic, enlightened humor

I suppose people notice what I look like and that I have nice eyes. This is a silly question!!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: well, as a lit major, I've read a lot. I'm a book person and I love to read. My latest episodic love is my Early Romantics class and the visionary poet William Blake. According to my brilliant prof, Blake is on a project to reinvent the stories of desire and human creativity and sexual agency. Who would have ever thought dead white men could be SO COOL???? Last semester: Victorian Literature focussing on presentations of sexuality and gender. Also been reading Where We Stand: Class Matters by bell hooks and The Revolution Will Not Be Funded by INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence.

If you want a woman who can discuss Marx, Bohr/Plank/Einstein, shamanism and gleefully deconstruct Derrida while swearing like a sailor, hit me up for some drunken intellectualism. People who can keep up with me intellectually are my ultimate aphrodisiac. That said, sometimes during the semester all I want after a long day of writing papers on post-structural theory is someone who can hold me close and say, "Ah, yes, darling, but I also love you for your ass." (This is in reference to a poem by Sandra Cisneros). Bonus points if you cook for me!

I love ecofeminism, philosophy, critical theory, and the study of religions. I love looking at complex interconnected systems to see how they work. I'm in awe of the world around me. I am so small. The universe is so complex, large and interesting! I should have been an anthropologist, as people fascinate me.

Favorite Book of all time: A Wrinkle In Time

Things I read for Fun: Laurell K. Hamilton, Harry Potter, anything that's a good story. If you love to discuss books, I am game.

Music: I ADORE music and couldn't live without a decent stereo. I LOVE classic rock. I also am into jazz, Lorenna McKennitt, ambient, goth, some industrial, blues, celtic, KBCO, and just about anything except country. I have a deep love for classical music. I played the piano for many years, classical and jazz. I used to do my own ambient and goth radio show at a community radio station.

Musically, you will find I am quite tolerant. That doesn't mean I will ever love your music, but I will put up with it. As a real example of tolerance, I went to a Barry Manilow concert with my mom because she loves Barry Manilow and it was her birthday. I danced right along with her. Hey, Copacabana is still a good song, and Manilow is a great showman. I haven't figured out how he trained at Juilliard and became Barry, but the world is full of mysteries. I also used to listen to co-workers' endless replays of Skinny Puppy, the top 40 pop station, bluegrass with sitar solos, and really bad thrash punk when I cooked professionally. However, the kitchen did make him break up the bad thrash with Tom Waits to give our eardrums a rest.

Food: I love good Italian, which is hard to find in Boulder. I also love Mediterranean and Indian food. And there's nothing like Lucile's Creole Cafe. NOTHING. I'm a sucker for a good burger or pizza and beer. Mostly, if its not ramen, I'm a happy camper.

I love to cook. If I like you, I will cook for you.

If you want to woo me, take me to a place with marvelous food. Doesn't have to be expensive/pretentious. But it must taste good!!

Movies: uhm...I'm not much of a film person. But Video Station RULES!
And I love Bruce Campbell's Bubba-Hotep! What a wonderfully stupid movie. JFK and his race change! That said, I love watching movies and if you're into it, relaxing with a movie is fine with me.

The six things I could never do without

good shoes
clean water
music
deep friendships
a guiding vision
Chocolove Chocolate (I'm partial to Chilis and Cherries, and the Orange Peel in Dark Chocolate)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

systems theory
sex
economic security
social justice
gender issues
sex
composting and environmental issues
permaculture
community gardening as a form of revolution
open-pollinated seeds and heirloom varieties
genetic and biological diversity
being pissed off that Monstinkos GMO corn got into the teosinte genome.
more sex
religion
mysticism (sex in the head/sex with god/ddess/no god)
paganism
what I will do with my life after school ends
music
plants
creating my own sexual/spiritual revolution of flesh and spirit
how much I can't wait to be done with school
relationships and of course, sex.

On a typical Friday night I am

School's back in...sigh. Typical Friday? Well, I often find myself out talking heavy intellectual topics at IHOP or a cafe with friends, inviting people over for dinner and cooking together, and being frustrated with my laptop while trying to watch a movie on it. Sometimes its also the night to go to bed early. SIGH. School and all.

If you're up for exploring Denver and its wonderous scenes, I'm game. Saturday night is the night out for dancing.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I snore. Loudly.

As a teenager, to entertain my friends, I used to stick french fries up my nose, waggle them around, then pull them out and eat them. I can't believe I just posted this on the internet.

You should message me if

You want to get to know me better. Profiles are a lousy way to facilitate a relationship! Don't let whatever my recent "replies at" is hanging out at scare you. I'm just a total hag at returning OKC messages of late.

You are good at driving stick-shift and want to teach someone! *HINT, HINT*

You're a brave, open-hearted human being who loves making a good friend even if romance doesn't work out.

You're good at walking and picking your nose at the same time too!

You love strong women.

You want a real gem of a human being, who of course, has her flaws.

You've done your work on becoming a grown-up. By this, I mean: being responsible, facing your shadows and your feelings, dealt with pain, rejection and learned to be your honest, authentic self. I'm not into children inhabiting adult bodies!

you're a vibrant, funny person who loves to make others laugh.

you can also appreciate Bubba-Hotep.
